New National Poll Shows a Five Way Tie

Quinnipiac released a poll today of 679 likely Republican or Republican leaning voters. The results of the poll showed Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Mike Huckabee, Marco Rubio, and Scott Walker were tied for the lead, each garnering ten percent of support. The full results of the poll were as follows:

  • Don’t know: 20%
  • Jeb Bush: 10%
  • Ben Carson: 10%
  • Mike Huckabee: 10%
  • Marco Rubio: 10%
  • Scott Walker: 10%
  • Rand Paul: 7%
  • Ted Cruz: 6%
  • Donald Trump: 5%
  • Chris Christie: 4%
  • Carly Fiorina: 2%
  • John Kasich: 2%
  • Lindsey Graham: 1%
  • Bobby Jindal: 1%
  • Rick Perry: 1%
  • Wouldn’t vote: 1%
  • George Pataki: 0%
  • Rick Santorum: 0%

Based on the new criteria for the GOP debates, Graham, Jindal, Perry, Pataki, and Santorum would miss the debate based on this poll, while Fiorina would be the 10th participant, and Kasich would be the 11th, due to their equal numbers.

In addition to the overall poll numbers, this poll also broke down respondents based on demographics. The candidates leading each demographic in this poll are as follows:

  • Tea Party: Cruz, 17%
  • Evangelicals: Huckabee, 17%
  • Very Conservative: Carson, 14%
  • Somewhat Conservative: Bush, 13%
  • Moderate/Liberal Conservative: Rubio, 13%
  • Men: Carson/Walker, 12%
  • Women: Huckabee, 12%
