The judge in this case appears to be attempting to manufacture what the Kentucky legislature has not done: a conscience exemption for gay marriage dissenters. So far so good.
His order, however, requires her not to interfere with deputy clerks issuing same-sex marriage licenses in her name. The reprieve could be short-lived, unless the governor and the legislature acts.
UPDATE: The Daily Mail is reporting Rowan County is removing Kim Davis’ name from its pre-printed authorization forms.
