Why Did Trump Accuse Cruz of “Fraud”?

Start

This morning, Donald Trump appeared to melt down on Twitter. After a gracious concession speech in Iowa, he is now accusing Ted Cruz of “fraud,” saying he “stole” the Iowa caucus:

Trump’s reasons for this drastic change of tone may vary. First, it is likely a standard Trump tactic of stealing the spotlight by saying the most outrageous things, whatever they are, in order to suck in all the media attention possible.

Second, it may be a matter of ego for Trump, who can’t stand not being a “winner,” especially when Ted Cruz won by attacking Trump.

Third, however, Trump may be hedging his option of running as an independent or threatening to do so. His promises not to run as an independent have hinged on whether the party treats him “fairly.” Trump may be building his case to jump ship if the voters ultimately reject him.
