I have to give Governor John Kasich points for consistency. He went on CNN on Monday and doubled down on his view that values issues just aren’t that important. Referring to Mississippi’s religious liberty law, Kasich said:

I read about this thing they did in Mississippi where apparently you can deny somebody service because they’re gay. What the hell are we doing in this country? . . . We had a Supreme Court ruling, and you know what, let’s move on.

Not only did Kasich embrace the language of the left in grossly distorting Mississippi’s law, he embraced the left’s strategy for fundamentally redefining America.

Not that long ago, fighting judicial activism was a key pillar of conservatism. Sadly, too many GOP elites are willing to let unelected judges dictate our values. That is wrong, and the Supreme Court often gets it wrong, too.

The Supreme Court made a ruling in Dred Scott that said black men and women were not people, but property. Thankfully, we didn’t just accept it and “move on.”

The Supreme Court made a ruling in Plessy v. Ferguson upholding segregation. That was wrong. The Supreme Court made a ruling in Roe v. Wade, declaring that unborn children were property to be disposed of at a whim. That has been a disaster.

Sorry, governor, but millions of Americans do care about these issues, and we will not “move on” while the left rips this country away from its Judeo-Christian roots.
