I don’t know why a social conservative has a reason to be opposed to Donald Trump in this sense. Hillary Clinton is the most committed you will ever have in terms of social liberalism and in the Democratic Party. She has talked about removing the Hyde Amendment so that the federal government can fund virtually every abortion in America. She has talked about how she would not really do anything with late-term abortion until the very last minute, and we have no idea what she even means by that. She’s someone who would promote the gender equality issue set of the Obama administration.

Trump in every one of these areas, including the pick for the Supreme Court — he’s said that he would pick somebody like [Diane] Sykes or [Bill] Pryor, two people who would be remarkably strong as social conservatives on the Court. He has said that he would defund Planned Parenthood. He has said that he would pass a 20-week bill. And he has said he would support the First Amendment Defense Act and sign it if it were brought to his desk.

The Republican Party has to come to grips — and social conservatives have to come to grips — with the idea that if we are going to defeat Hillary Clinton, we have been given one option and we need to support that option.
