Hillary Taking Heat for Anti-Religious Freedom Stance

It will come as no surprise to most conservatives that Hillary Clinton’s record on religious liberty is not stellar. However, in recent weeks, Clinton has tried to change her image on the issue, claiming that she’s “been fighting to defend religious freedom for years.”

But her message change is not convincing everyone.

The Republican National Committee released a video earlier this week blasting Clinton for her anti-religious freedom stance, arguing that her record “shows she would choose a liberal [Supreme Court] judge opposed to religious freedom” and that “Hillary wants to limit your rights as a business owner to make decisions based on your beliefs”:

And last week, Hobby Lobby CEO David Green, whose victory at the Supreme Court dealt a significant blow to the Obama administration’s attempts to curtail religious freedom, wrote in USA Today that he fears a Clinton presidency would represent a severe threat to Americans’ rights of conscience:

During a 2015 speech at the Women in the World Summit, Hillary Clinton declared that religious beliefs “have to be changed.”

What I fear she really means is that the beliefs of people of faith across our nation will be discounted, and those people will be forced to violate their conscience under her presidency — a philosophy that would be carried out by anyone she nominates for the Supreme Court.

The Constitution was created for the express purpose of protecting certain fundamental rights — not just when they’re aligned with the current administration’s policies, and not just when they’re convenient — but as the highest priority for our lawmakers and elected officials.

Clinton has made no secret she believes government interests supersede the protection of religious liberty.

While Clinton may insist she respects religious freedom, voters are starting to see both sides to the story. And with her polling lead collapsing, she may be starting to feel the effects.
