Ivanka Trump Needs to Hear the Truth About Planned Parenthood

First Daughter Ivanka Trump has recently come under attack from Planned Parenthood because of her silence on their agenda since they secretly met in April. Silence does not always mean dissent or assent, however. Sometimes it is just silence — and that silence can cause more harm than good.

It has been more than two months since that meeting – a meeting which spoke volumes in tribute to Ms. Trump’s desire to protect women’s rights nationwide. It is unfortunate, though, that the organization she is listening to has long denied equal rights to women of color and will attack any woman that does not side with its abortion-at-all-costs agenda.

It is well documented that Planned Parenthood targets women of color, particularly Black women, under the guise of providing access to “high quality preventive ‘healthcare’” that “is often unavailable to them anywhere else.” They have deliberately placed more than 79 percent of their surgical facilities within a two-mile walking radius of Black/Latino neighborhoods. And in recent years, they have accelerated the targeting, constructing 24 of their 25 10,000 square feet or larger facilities in Black/Latino neighborhoods. Moreover, they have fought to deny women of color access to medically safe, clean centers. Instead, they choose to push the narrative that laws ensuring gurneys can navigate their halls and elevators are operational in cases of evacuation amount to a denial of access to healthcare.

In the five-month period from January to May of this year, ambulances have rushed women from a Planned Parenthood to local hospitals for emergency care 21 times. Some of the injuries cited include hemorrhaging, high blood pressure, abdominal pain, seizures, and vaginal bleeding. The St. Louis Planned Parenthood sent their 65th patient to an area hospital for emergency care on March 24, 2017.

Inspections of Planned Parenthood centers have resulted in a myriad of violations — including 210 identified in the St Louis facility alone. In 2010, Planned Parenthood Mobile “was placed on a year-long probation after failing to report cases of statutory rape.” Today cases in seven states have been identified where Planned Parenthood failed to report sexual abuse or rape of minors (Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Minnesota and Ohio).”

In 2012, Planned Parenthood was sued for negligence when their abortionist performed a surgical abortion on a woman with an ectopic pregnancy, rendering her infertile. In 2014, the organization’s own employees were caught selling abortifacients out of a parking lot in Alabama. In 2016, this same facility was cited in 16 pages of violations for not practicing good handwashing techniques in between abortions and other procedures and for their failure to properly clean and sterilize instruments, among other safety violations.

Even as it has broken numerous national and state laws, Planned Parenthood continues to contribute heavily to campaigns of elected officials in order to control the outcomes of their illegal activities. A most recent example of this was the arrest of David Daleiden in California. California’s former Attorney General collaborated with Planned Parenthood to draft legislation targeting Daleiden, and the current Attorney General — who has also received campaign contributions from the abortion giant – then arrested Daleiden under the statute Planned Parenthood help draft. As documented by the undercover videos Daleiden released, it is apparent Planned Parenthood violated federal law each time they sold the body parts of the little Black and Latino children aborted in their centers.

In addition to all this, Planned Parenthood is complicit in the killing of Black and Latino women – women such as Cree Erwin, Tonya Reaves, Edrica Goode, and Diana Lopez. These names are but a few of those who have died trusting Planned Parenthood with their reproductive “healthcare.”

However, all of this should come as no surprise once one considers Planned Parenthood’s history. Under the auspices of the Negro Project, launched by their founder Margaret Sanger in 1939, Planned Parenthood has paid countless Black legislators, physicians, ministers, the NAACP, and other influential Blacks to lure Black women into their facilities with promises of rights and equality. Over the years, they have received just the opposite.

As Ivanka Trump continues her listening tour, we pray she will give voice to the millions of babies and untold numbers of women harmed by Planned Parenthood. We hope she will listen to the members of the Black pro-life community who have documented the horrific impact Planned Parenthood’s healthcare is having in communities of color. And we pray she will find courage to break her silence to stop the targeting of women of color.
