‘He’s Winning’: Sen. Cruz Endorses Tennessee Senate Hopeful Sethi Over ‘Establishment’ Hagerty

The Texas Senator posted to Facebook on July 22nd, declaring Sethi a true “conservative fighter that will stand up for our values”:

“Primaries are a time for choosing. Too many times the Washington swamp tries to trick voters into choosing their preferred candidates. We need conservative fighters in the U.S. Senate that will stand up for our values, and that is why I’m endorsing Dr. Manny Sethi for United States Senate. Dr. Manny is a pro-life doctor who will fight to finally repeal Obamacare, defend the second ammendment, and help get our economy moving again. There’s a reason the Establishment’s throwing everything they’ve got at Dr. Manny these final days—he’s winning. I am urging Tennessee conservatives to stand up to the attacks, join me, and stand with Dr. Manny Sethi.”

This adds to a growing list of endorsements from high-profile conservatives including radio host and author Mark Levin, who equated Sethi’s opponent Hagerty to “Mitt Romney Junior.”

Sethi, a citizen candidate, is running against the Swamp-favored Hagerty, who first endorsed Jeb Bush in the 2016 Republican primary, followed by Marco Rubio, and only came to support President Trump once he had secured the nomination.

But Hagerty’s establishment Republican affiliation predates the 2016 election, as a longtime adviser, friend, and business partner of Mitt Romney. He also worked in the George H.W. Bush White House, has affiliated with – and even hired – Never Trumpers, and donated extensively to John McCain amidst the late Senator’s feud with President Trump.

As Sethi noted on Levin’s radio show, “a vote for Bill Hagerty is a vote for Mitt Romney.”

Evidently, Cruz agrees.
