Last week, the Department of Justice (DOJ) concluded an investigation into the admissions process of Yale University and found that the Ivy League school had discriminated on the basis of race against hundreds of white and Asian applicants, which is an illegal violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act.
In order to continue to receive taxpayer funding, the DOJ demanded Yale immediately end its practice of race-based discrimination, or submit a narrowly tailored plan to continue inclusion of race or national origin in the admissions process in a way that properly comports to Title VI.
The DOJ reported:
The Department of Justice found Yale discriminates based on race and national origin in its undergraduate admissions process, and that race is the determinative factor in hundreds of admissions decisions each year. For the great majority of applicants, Asian Americans and whites have only one-tenth to one-fourth of the likelihood of admission as African American applicants with comparable academic credentials. Yale rejects scores of Asian American and white applicants each year based on their race, whom it otherwise would admit.
Fox News’ Tucker Carlson highlighted this example of actual systemic racism in his monologue last Friday:
“There’s not really any question about the evidence. It’s overwhelming. And by the way, everyone knows it’s true. Ask any Chinese or Korean-American parent you know. They’re highly aware of this. Their kid could have straight A’s and an amazing SAT score, but he’s not going to Princeton — he’d be lucky to get into Boston College — because he’s the wrong color. Is there a single American who doesn’t know this? Everybody knows it. Are we OK with that?”
As of Monday morning, The National Pulse can report there are no confirmed street protests in response to Yale’s demonstrably racist actions.
America’s left-wing elites are perfectly OK with systemic racism as long as it benefits certain voting blocs — and sorry, Asians, but you don’t get a medal at the oppression Olympics. You’re the “wrong color,” according to the left. And if this upsets you, the New York Times says to suck it up. The formerly reputable newspaper trotted out several Asian students who were already admitted to Yale to say they’re fine with the admissions process. They didn’t appear to ask Asians who were rejected.
But if the letter of the law is applied, as the DOJ is applying it in this case, Yale has a lot to lose.
According to a report from 24/7 Wall Street, Yale received $480 million from the federal government as recently as 2015.
The threat of losing taxpayer funding could have a ripple effect, not only for Yale, but especially on other Ivy League schools.
According to the same report, Yale was ranked 20th for the receipt of federal dollars. A number of other Ivy League schools brought in significantly more, including Stanford, Columbia, University of Pennsylvania, and Harvard.
Do the admissions processes of these schools significantly differ from that of Yale? Maybe the DOJ should investigate.
Or even better: maybe Republicans in Congress should start using their political power to put the Higher Ed cartel on blast. Imagine what might come out in a Senate hearing.
Consumer fraud on a massive scale? The imposition of a monopolistic credential-racket that benefits wealthy corporations while saddling graduates and non-graduates alike with unbearable student loan debt? The total forfeiture of American STEM supremacy to Communist China?
Or how about the utter abandonment of classic liberal education? Widespread indoctrination of Marxist ideology on every campus and in every major and discipline? The fact that nobody in college actually learns anything worth a damn anymore?
The DOJ deserves a lot of credit for exposing Higher Ed’s racist admissions process, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. The truth is that Higher Ed poses an existential threat to America itself. Are Republican politicians based enough to recognize it
