Trump Admin Limits Chinese Communist Party Members From Traveling To US

The Trump administration has moved to curb the ability of Chinese Communist Party members and their families to travel to the U.S.

According to reports from The New York Times, on Wednesday new rules were issued that restricted the ability of party members and their families to visit the U.S. with travel visas.

Prior to the development, party members could obtain visitor visas for up to 10 years. Now, however, the duration has been lowered to one month and just one entry.

A State Department spokesman told the Times its decision was a part of “ongoing policy, regulatory, and law-enforcement action across the U.S. government to protect our nation from the Chinese Communist Party’s malign influence.”

“For decades we allowed the C.C.P. free and unfettered access to U.S. institutions and businesses while these same privileges were never extended freely to U.S. citizens in China,” the statement added.
