Over 1,000 Chinese Military-Linked Researchers Flee US Following Trump Crackdown

Over 1,000 Chinese militarily-linked researchers have fled the U.S. following the Trump administration’s crackdown on Chinese espionage.

According to John Demers, head of the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) national security division, the researchers departed the U.S. after countless criminal cases were pursued against Chinese Communist Party-linked operatives.

Per the DOJ, the researchers are affiliated with China’s People’s Liberation Army and departed the U.S. after the Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted interviews in over 20 cities and the State Department shut down the country’s Houston consulate.
