‘It Felt Like A Bomb’: Authorities Believe Christmas Day Explosion ‘Intentional Act’

Following an explosion in the downtown area of Nashville, Tennessee, the city’s police department emphasized it believed the act was “intentional.”

Metro Nashville Police Department spokesman Don Aaron noted the early morning explosion is believed to be “an intentional act” in a brief press conference. Nashville Fire spokesman Joseph Pleasant reported that three people have been transported to hospitals from the scene, but none are in critical condition.

The explosion, which produced black smoke, shaking buildings, and heavy flames, occurred in the heart of downtown Nashville’s tourist scene.

Residents appear to share the same opinion as law enforcement, as an individual who lives near the area of the explosion described the incident akin to a bomb:

“All my windows, every single one of them got blown into the next room. If I had been standing there it would have been horrible It felt like a bomb. It was that big. There were about four cars on fire. I don’t know if it was so hot they just caught on fire, and the trees were all blown apart.”
