Heading Back to the (So-Called) Human Rights Council.
Under Biden, the United States will be back in the UN Human Rights Council.
Under President Trump, the United States left the UN Human Rights Council for reasons including its naked bias against Israel and its inclusion of countries that practice well-known human rights abuses, including China and Venezuela.
But rather than withdrawing the United States’ tacit endorsement from sham “human rights” theatrics, Secretary of State Antony Blinken believes “the full weight of our diplomatic leadership” should occupy a seat at the table.
In other words, give human rights abusers the cover of being endorsed by the United States.
Apparently “Modernizing” Means Ignoring Criminality.
As part of the president’s push for “long overdue” immigration modernization, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will be releasing new guidelines regarding prioritization of immigration enforcement actions, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said on Monday.
The new guidelines will shift the focus away from deporting illegal immigrants apprehended for things like DUIs, fraud, assault, and drug trafficking, reserving priority for those who pose “the greatest” national security threat.
Psaki Invites Doocy to “Present Data.”
In the briefing room this week, Fox correspondent Peter Doocy asked when “green jobs” would be ready for workers who had lost their jobs due to the cancellation of the Keystone XL Pipeline and other Biden actions on energy.
Psaki replied, “I’d certainly welcome you to present your data of all the thousands and thousands of people who won’t be getting a green job. Maybe next time you’re here, you can present that.”
(Traditionally, the burden of proof doesn’t rest on reporters to validate their own questions, and challenging questions are considered a typical demand on the role of press secretary.)
BONUS: Pipelines are fine for the Taliban, apparently.
U.S. Attorney Purge Approaches.
A senior Justice Department official said Monday that the department would request resignations from U.S. attorneys appointed by former President Trump.
Exceptions include U.S. Attorney David Weiss, who is overseeing the federal tax probe involving Hunter Biden, and U.S. Attorney John Durham, who was appointed as a special counsel to investigate the origins of the Trump-Russia probe. Durham is expected to resign his post as U.S. attorney in Connecticut, however.
