FISA Bill Progresses, As ‘Checks and Balances’ Amendment Fails.

A proposal to renew section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) cleared the House of Representatives by a vote of 259-128 on Monday, and it is now heading to the Senate.

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) had put forward an amendment requiring the authorities to acquire a warrant before accessing information collected on American citizens using FISA, but it was unsuccessful. The Joe Biden regime opposed the amendment, despite FISA’s defenders insisting it is a tool to surveil foreigners rather than U.S. citizens.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) expressed strong disapproval of FISA’s renewal, noting that “the program has been abused to spy on American citizens in direct violation of American liberty and the 4th Amendment” and that “[t]he FISA court found that the federal government violated its own rules over 278,000 times.”

“The swamp won today. The intel bros, uniparty, and deep state won two more years of warrantless surveillance,” she posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Donald Trump had been FISA’s most high-profile opponent, and his intervention helped defeat another attempt to reauthorize it earlier this month.

“KILL FISA, IT WAS ILLEGALLY USED AGAINST ME, AND MANY OTHERS. THEY SPIED ON MY CAMPAIGN!!!” he wrote on Truth Social.

Following this initial defeat, Trump said at a joint press conference with Speaker Johnson that, while he was “not a big fan of FISA,” House Republicans “put a lot of checks and balances on and I guess it’s down to two years now so that it would come due in the early part of my administration.”

The former president was referring to changes to the initial bill requiring FISA to be renewed again in two years rather than five.

NPR Editor Who Exposed Far-Left Bias Suspended Without Pay.

National Public Radio (NPR) has suspended veteran editor Uri Berliner after he published a scathing criticism of the news organization in The Free Press last week. Berliner’s commentary contented that NPR had abandoned any pretense of objective journalism and instead had become a willing mouthpiece for partisan propaganda pushed by the likes of Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA).

The news organization‘s executives suspended Berliner without pay for five days on Friday. They contended that his opinion editorial at The Free Press contravened company rules regarding contributions to external media outlets. NPR requires its journalists to receive company leadership approval before publishing content at a rival media outlet.

The veteran NPR editor’s revelations of rampant partisan political bias in news coverage have thrown the company into disarray, especially as additional scrutiny now mounts against the outlet’s new CEO, Katherine Maher. Appointed in March, Maher has led the taxpayer-funded broadcaster’s pushback against Berliner.

“Questioning whether our people are serving our mission with integrity, based on little more than the recognition of their identity, is profoundly disrespectful, hurtful, and demeaning,” she complained. The National Pulse has detailed several instances where Maher has demonstrated extreme left-wing bias herself, including posting anti-Donald Trump diatribes while serving as an executive at Wikimedia. Maher also claimed it would be unfair for her to leave the U.S. when Trump was elected President as she would be using her “cis white mobility privilege.”

NPR issued a “final warning” to Berliner in a memo, informing the editor that further policy breaches would result in his dismissal. Berliner’s former colleagues believe the veteran editor’s days are numbered at the taxpayer-funded news outlet. “It seems to me that it would be very difficult for him now at NPR,” one individual told Fox News.

WATCH: Joy Reid Says ‘Go DEI!’ – Admits Diversity Hires Are Behind Trump Persecution.

MSNBC host Joy Reid has had another diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) moment. The DEI-obsessed anchor admitted: “For me, there is something wonderfully poetic about the fact that the first person to criminally prosecute Donald Trump is a black Harvard grad. And a black woman is doing the same exact thing in Georgia. And a black woman forced you to pay a $175 million dollar fine.

She concluded: “Donald Trump is being held to account by the very multicultural, multiracial democracy that he’s trying to dismantle. Go DEI. My DEIs are bringing it home.”

Reid has previously said that “DEI” is a modern variation of the “n-word.”

Reid is most famed for pretending her Twitter account was hacked, to get out of posting anti-gay tweets. She also once claimed the ‘538’ website was named for Al Gore’s loss.

Trump Tells Tish James ‘PAY UP’ After Her Frivolous Bond Claim.

The attorneys for former President Donald Trump affirmed that his $175 million bond posted in connection with the ongoing civil fraud case in New York is financially sound. They have requested that the judge consider New York Attorney General Letitia James‘s challenge to the bond invalid. Additionally, Trump’s legal team is asking the former President to be awarded costs and fees for having to produce additional documents to comply with James’s challenge of the bond.

A Monday night court filing by Trump‘s attorneys disclosed that the bond, secured through Knight Specialty Insurance Company (KSIC), is fortified by the former President’s Charles Schwab account, boasting over $175 million in cash. In case of any assumed risk, KSIC is covered fully by its parent company, Knight Insurance Company, LTD.

Gregory Serio, the previous superintendent of insurance for New York and partner at Park Strategies, stated that KSIC’s bond is reliably secure, dismissing Attorney General James‘s objections about the underwriter’s financial stability. Additionally, Trump’s attorneys have argued that a hearing on the bond question is unnecessary and that the document-based evidence in support of the bond is ample justification.

The National Pulse previously reported that Letitia James‘s office cast doubts about KSIC’s credentials and ability to guarantee a surety bond within New York state. James additionally noted that the company did not possess a certification from the state regulator, which declared its financial competence. In response, Trump‘s attorneys stated that displaying a certificate is not the exclusive determinant of a bond underwriter’s financial health.

Republicans Send Mayorkas Impeachment Articles to Senate.

Republican House leaders officially presented impeachment articles against President Joe Biden‘s Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Tuesday afternoon. The move comes after a group of conservative Senators had asked House Republicans to delay the transmission of the articles as they worked to prevent Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) from quickly moving to dismiss the charges.

At the heart of the impeachment articles are accusations that Mayorkas has consistently contravened laws passed by Congress regarding immigration and border security. The documents also allege Biden’s Homeland Security Secretary misled Congress through inaccurate statements about the condition of the nation’s borders, asserting they were secure when evidence and enforcement feedback from Border Patrol agents contradicted such claims.

The House GOP’s impeachment move against Mayorkas had to navigate numerous roadblocks before finally being adopted on February 13 earlier this year. Following his impeachment by the House of Representatives, Mayorkas issued a statement deflecting the allegations. The Homeland Security Secretary reiterated his commitment to ensuring border security and his dedication to public service in accordance with the law, dismissing what he termed as “false accusations.”

Defending his Homeland Security Secretary, President Biden said of the impeachment: “History will not look kindly on House Republicans for their blatant act of unconstitutional partisanship that has targeted an honorable public servant in order to play petty political games.”
