Democrats Desperately Failing to “Bork” Gorsuch

Faced with an eminently qualified, reasonable, fair, and brilliant judge, Democrats are flailing — and failing — in their desperate attempt to “bork” Judge Neil Gorsuch.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) hit new lows when she attempted to savage Neil Gorsuch for saying he believes “the intentional taking of a human life by private persons is always wrong.”

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) stripped herself of any pretense to objectivity or fairness with a Boston Globe article before Gorsuch took the stand saying “Gorsuch Does Not Belong on the Supreme Court.”

Sen. Christopher Coons (D-Del.) dipped deeply into bigotry by saying the problem with Gorsuch is “religious freedom must not be the freedom to push our beliefs into the public square.”

But perhaps the most amusing and humiliating moment (for the Democrats) came on the second day of testimony this Tuesday when Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) solemnly and ridiculously tried to charge Gorsuch with extremism for consenting to be taught by Oxford University professors and attempted to make him responsible for their views.

“I’m not here to answer for Mr. King or for Professor Finnis,” Gorsuch said. “I’ve had a lot of professors… and I didn’t agree with everything they said.”

Durbin wouldn’t let it go. “This is a man who apparently had an impact on your life, certainly your academic life,” he said. “And I’m trying to figure out where we can parse his views from your views.”

But Gorsuch refused to defend Finnis’s comments. “I think the best evidence is what I’ve written,” he said, growing visibly agitated. “I’ve written or joined over 6 million words as a federal appellate judge. I’ve written a couple of books. I’ve been a lawyer and a judge for 25 or 30 years. That’s my record, and I guess I’d ask you respectfully to look at my credentials and my record.”

That’s the negative. If you want to put it in the positive, Judge Gorsuch beat the Democrats to a pulp with this one response to those who accused him of siding with the big guy over the little guy or sucking up to President Trump. “When I became a judge they gave me a gavel, not a rubber stamp,” he said.

If this is the best the Left can do, welcome to the Court, Justice Gorsuch.
