Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio may not have gotten along so well back when they were both vying for the GOP nomination. However, since Rubio suspended his campaign last month, the public relationship between the two has drastically improved. And this week, the good vibes hit an all-time high.

First, during an interview on Tuesday with Mark Levin, Rubio echoed remarks he made last month, praising Cruz for being the only candidate actively campaigning who “fits that criteria” of being a truly conservative option for Republicans. And while the Senator from Florida was careful the next day to assure reporters he was not making an endorsement yet, it seems clear from his words — and his actions — which of the current GOP candidates he prefers the most.

Cruz, for his part, was also very complimentary of Rubio the next night during a CNN town hall:

…Cruz heaped praise on Rubio, saying the Florida senator’s campaign “inspired” him and that he considers Rubio “a friend.”

“Anyone would naturally look at Marco as one of the people who would be a terrific person to consider for VP and we’re in the process now of considering a number of different options,” Cruz told Anderson Cooper.

He added: “He would be someone that you would be a fool not to look at seriously.”

Could a Cruz-Rubio ticket be in the offing? It’s far too early to speculate, but at the very least, a unity ticket featuring the two erstwhile rivals seems much more likely now than at any point this cycle.
