Planned Parenthood’s Creepy Hijacking of Mother’s Day

File this under this week’s sign of the apocalypse: Mother’s Day should be about abortion.

In an op-ed written for Time, Planned Parenthood CEO and abortion shouter-in-chief Cecile Richards hijacked Mother’s Day and ran it into the proverbial ground.

Attacking the Republicans’ Obamacare replacement, the American Health Care Act, which redirects taxpayer funds away from Planned Parenthood toward Community Health Centers for a year, Richards implored readers to forgo a traditional celebration of Mother’s Day in favor of anti-choice-for-the-child activism:

…[T]his Mother’s Day, instead of taking your mom out to brunch or sending chocolate, commit to fighting for a government that recognizes that women deserve basic human rights and protections — including the right to decide when and whether to become a mom.

I know most of our readers probably don’t speak abortionese, so let me translate this for you: This Mother’s Day, don’t tell your mom you appreciate her. Don’t bother to get her a gift. Instead, tell her you called up your Congressman and told him that taxpayers should continue to pay for our inalienable right to buy one, get one abortion free!

Richards continues her absurd drivel:

After all, nothing says “I love you, Mom!” like adding your members of Congress to your contacts, and letting them know you’re counting on them to stand up for women and families everywhere.

Um, I can think of about a billion things that say “I love you, Mom!” more than calling some poor congressional intern in Washington, D.C., to whine about Planned Parenthood funding on Mother’s Day. Why not just get your mom some flowers or chocolates? Or a card?

Or maybe even just a hug? If you seriously skipped Mother’s Day this year to tweet out some Planned Parenthood-produced pro-abortion memes, your poor mother probably needs the hug.
