Planned Parenthood Uses Holidays to Take Cheap Shot at VP Pence

Making a charitable donation in someone’s name is typically a thoughtful thing to do. However, it becomes cruel when the donation is made to further a cause that person opposes. Yet, this is exactly what Planned Parenthood is encouraging people to do for one of our country’s leading political figures this holiday season.

In their latest scheme to fuse fundraising with propaganda, Planned Parenthood has released a list titled “Top 10 Holiday Gift Ideas for Vice President Mike Pence.” While the list includes some attempts to be witty, such as a Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg shirt or a gift certificate for spray tans, it also encourages readers to make a donation in Pence’s name.

“Pence started the whole ‘defund’ Planned Parenthood thing: He introduced the first federal measure to block patients from care at Planned Parenthood,” states the post. “He’s still trying! So give him a gift he’ll never forget, and donate to Planned Parenthood Action Fund ‘in honor’ of Mike Pence!”

Also included as a suggested gift are condoms. Referencing a comment Pence made supporting abstinence-only sexual education as the way to prevent sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), Planned Parenthood wrote:

Mike Pence thinks that condoms are ‘too modern’ (what?) and offer ‘very, very poor protection’ against STDs — which is completely and utterly FALSE. When they’re used correctly, condoms are great at preventing STDS (and pregnancy).

However, in their hurry to discredit Pence’s comments, the abortion giant is ignoring recent reports from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) that show a rise in STDs, even with an increased push for condom use through public sexual education.

“We have seen steep and sustained increases over the last five years,” stated Dr. Gail Bolan, the CDC’s director of the Division of STD Prevention. “Usually there are ebbs and flows, but this sustained increase is very concerning. We haven’t seen anything like this for two decades.”

A CDC fact sheet on the relation between condom use and STDs explains that while condom use may be successful at reducing the transmission of such diseases, the only sure ways of avoiding transmission are abstinence or monogamy with a long-term partner.

Shame on you, Planned Parenthood, for utilizing such cheap channels of propaganda. Kudos to Vice President Pence for being a vocal advocate for family-centered policies.
