A ballot drop box in Pittsylvania, Pennsylvania malfunctioned, leaving the internal collection bin open and potentially damaging the two ballots contained inside.
The exposure is the latest example of the complications of universal mail-in balloting and was reported on Monday, October 14th.
Initially, voting officials believed “there’s more to it,” but later concluded, “the drop box itself shows no signs of tampering.”
“The box is now fully functional. Our building and grounds crew has fixed the mechanism that was causing issues,” the official continued.
