A county in Michigan failed to certify its November 3rd election results, a decision which the Trump campaign hailed as a “huge win.”
Jenna Ellis, a Senior Legal Adviser to the Trump campaign and Counsel to the president, described the effects of the decision on Twitter as a “huge win,” highlighting “if the state board follows suit, the Republican state legislator will select the electors.”

The county in question – Wayne County, Michigan – saw its Board of Canvassers deadlock in a 2-2 vote along party lines on “whether the county’s Nov. 3 election results should be certified as at least four state and federal lawsuits sought to stop the process.”
“The decision came after absentee ballot poll books at 70% of Detroit’s 134 absentee counting boards were found to be out of balance without explanation. The mismatches varied anywhere from one to more than four votes,” Detroit News reported.
Now, the county’s election results will move the Michigan Board of State Canvassers, a body set to meet on Wednesday morning to “consider the question of certification of Michigan’s results on Monday.”
