As originally reported by the Associated Press, Dr. Ben Carson raised over $20 million for his campaign fund in the 3rd quarter.

Carson’s haul is nearly double the $11.4 million that Gov. Jeb Bush raised for his campaign apparatus in the 2nd quarter. These figures only take into consideration the candidate committees and not Super PACs supporting their efforts.

The deadline for 3rd quarter reporting ended last night at midnight. Fundraising reports from all campaigns will be made public on October 15th.

Announcing fundraising totals early is a sign of confidence from campaigns that they have out raised their opponents, usually by a sizable margin.

Is the increase in fundraising an overall trend in the cycle, or is Ben Carson making some serious headway? We will find out soon.
