The latest Monmouth University poll, conducted August 31 through September 2, surveyed 366 registered voters who are Republicans or say they lean Republican. The margin of error is 5 percentage points. But the overall message from the voters is so huge it swamps minor quibbles about who is up and who is down this week.

Trump is in front, the current choice of 30 percent of Republican voters and up four points since August’s poll. But Carson is surging into second at 18 percent, up 13 percentage points in a month.

In a hypothetical match-ups, Trump trounced every GOP candidate in the field but one: Ben Carson, who thumps Trump 55 percent to 36 percent in a potential head-to-head.

Carson has the highest favorable/unfavorable ratings: 67 percent to 26 percent. But Trump is close, with 59 percent viewing him favorably and just 29 percent viewing him unfavorably.

Here is the biggest news from the voters: 67 percent prefer a candidate who is “outside government.”

This is a revolutionary message from the voters.  They are fed up with a system that doesn’t work for ordinary Americans. Fortunately for us in America, revolution takes the form of voting for a Trump or a Carson.
