More Than a Tweet: Trump Comes Through Big on Transgender Military Directive

On Friday afternoon, President Donald Trump issued a memorandum to the Secretaries of Defense and Homeland Security directing them to reinstate a long-standing policy prohibiting individuals who identify as transgender from serving in the military. This policy, which served the world’s greatest military well for literally hundreds of years, was the law of the land prior to a politically motivated change made by the Obama administration just 14 months ago.

And now, thanks to President Trump, this ridiculous social experiment has been consigned to the dustbin of history — at least for now.

The memorandum also halted taxpayer funding of “sex reassignment” procedures for military personnel. The guidance marked the ratification of the policy change, which the President first announced via Twitter last month.

Today, we’re happy to see those words put into action. When it comes to our nation’s military, priority should always be given to what is best for combat readiness and morale, not political correctness or the latest ideological fad.

Thank you, President Trump, for doing the right thing even when #FakeNews opposes it. The American people are with you.
