Could a New Phone App Revolutionize the Pro-Life Movement?

40 Days for Life, already one of the most successful organizations at shutting down abortion clinics, is about to give the pro-life movement a powerful, new tool to fight abortion worldwide.

The 40 Days for Life App (available in the Apple App Store and Google Play) will help bring together pro-lifers all across the globe. It will make it even simpler to connect in order to fast, pray, and hold vigils at abortion clinics.

According to 40 Days for Life President Shawn Carney:

Planned Parenthood and the high-powered abortion industry own a huge financial advantage over even the best-funded pro-life efforts. … But we’ve seen that with technology, that advantage is no longer as formidable as it once was – and even the abortion industry has acknowledged that as grassroots efforts grow.

The organization states that app users will “receive special access to breaking news, including abortion facility closures and abortion workers leaving their jobs, as well as prayer devotionals and other calls to action. They will also receive a 20% discount at 40 Days for Life’s new online store.”

A major feature of the app is a section that provides pro-life responses to standard pro-abortion arguments. The app release comes just in time for 40 Days for Life’s next campaign, which will kick off on September 27th.  The 40-day campaigns are based on God’s use of 40-day periods in Biblical history for transformation.

During a campaign, there is a non-stop, round-the-clock vigil held outside a specific Planned Parenthood or abortion clinic within a participating community. Community involvement and messaging are also a priority, and churches are key players in this aspect of the campaign. Prayer and fasting are also considered foundational aspects of the Christian organization’s campaigns.

40 Days for Life has seen major results, and expects to see these results increase exponentially with the use of the new app. Over 4,876 total campaigns in 715 cities across 44 different countries have taken place over the past years. There have been over 750,000 individual participants, and over 19,000 different participating churches involved.

Over 13,000 lives have been saved, 154 abortion clinic workers have left their jobs, and 86 different abortion facilities have been closed as a result of the group’s efforts.

The campaign kicking off on September 27th will be the largest to date, taking place in 375 different cities.
