An incredible moment happened earlier this week during Neil Gorsuch’s confirmation hearing for the Supreme Court. Of course, it will fly under the radar and be ignored by the mainstream media, but it was very telling. Watch this video (or read the transcript below):
Senator Feinstein talked about the dark days before Roe v. Wade. I had some experience with that.[…]
Leahy v. Bartlett was a case where I prosecuted somebody procuring abortions. And these are the dark days I don’t want to go back to.
I got a call from the police at 3:00 in the morning. I was state’s attorney at the time. I went to the emergency room at our local hospital. A young co-ed nearly died of bleeding from a botched abortion. At that time it was illegal. We found out the person that had procured them — he had done this with a number of people. He would then — he would then blackmail them for either sex or money.
And when I brought the trial, we found the person doing the abortion was from Montreal. They said they’d go to trial, figuring she’d never appear for the case. She was there. Two Royal Canadian Mounties escorted her. I pointed out to the defense attorney, the evidence would show she was trained to do these abortions working for the SS at Auschwitz so she could abort the women prisoners that they had impregnated so that they could keep on using this women that way before they put them in the gas chambers. He looked at the names of the people that would be the potential jurors. They sought a plea.
Now — so I applaud the senior senator from California for raising the issue.
Do you notice what Leahy did? He admitted that abortion is a tool that men use to exploit women. He even admitted that it was a tool the Nazis used as part of their genocidal campaign.
Leahy talks about the dark days of botched illegal abortions and seedy abortionists as if those days are long past. But the Kermit Gosnell case shows that abortionists continue to harm women even in the era of “legal” abortion. He was convicted of murdering a woman during a botched abortion. Numerous other abortionists have been convicted of manslaughter and sexual abuse in recent years. And Planned Parenthood has aided human traffickers trying to obtain abortions for their sex slaves.
These are just a few examples from the post-Roe era. All of these happened even as far-left Democrats like Leahy have opposed commonsense health and safety regulations on abortion clinics, like requiring them to have doorways wide enough to fit a gurney and requiring them to sterilize their instruments.
It’s interesting to note that Leahy was the prosecutor in the case he’s referring to. He prosecuted an abortionist for committing an abortion in Vermont when it was illegal, and the conviction was upheld by the Vermont Supreme Court in 1970. Does this mean he was pro-life at one time? And does his admission that abortion is a tool for exploitation mean he recognizes the truth? I won’t hold my breath. But he has confirmed again that abortion is a sacred cow for the left. Regardless of the harm it causes women, they will defend it at all costs.
