The Trump campaign signaled its intention to fight back against the President’s detractors on Sunday with the release of a new commercial which will run nationally on both cable news and online.
While the ad touts some of the President’s early successes, including the creation of one million new jobs and the lowest unemployment level since 2001, it also hits back at Trump’s “enemies,” including career politicians and the mainstream media:
Democrats: obstructing. The media: attacking our president. Career politicians: standing in the way of success.
But President Trump’s plan is working. One million jobs created: more Americans working than ever before. Unemployment: lowest since 2001. The stock market: all-time record highs. The strongest military in decades.
The President’s enemies don’t want him to succeed. But Americans are saying, “Let President Trump do his job.”
Although the ad’s release was overshadowed by the events in Charlottesville this weekend, based on President Trump’s remarks today, it seems clear he is hoping to pivot to a positive message, particularly focusing on economic progress the country has seen since he took office. 2020 may still be a few years away, but it would seem the campaign season has, at least unofficially, begun.
