Breaking News: Kim Davis Freed!

Courtroom_gavelJudge Bunning has just issued a court order that requires deputy clerks to authorize same-sex marriage licenses. And so he has released Kim Davis from her federal jail cell.

The judge in this case appears to be attempting to manufacture what the Kentucky legislature has not done: a conscience exemption for gay marriage dissenters. So far so good.

His order, however, requires her not to interfere with deputy clerks issuing same-sex marriage licenses in her name. The reprieve could be short-lived, unless the governor and the legislature acts.

Read the order here.

UPDATE: The Daily Mail is reporting Rowan County is removing Kim Davis’ name from its pre-printed authorization forms.
