Sanders Attacks Carson’s “Extreme” Abortion Stance On “The View”

This week on “The View,” Bernie Sanders bashed Ben Carson and the rest of the GOP candidates for pushing the “extreme right-wing agenda”:

“I mean, you just heard Ben Carson’s statement. These are guys who basically believe, this is their agenda more or less: huge tax breaks for the wealthiest people in this county; cuts to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, federal aid to education; virtually all of them are against a woman’s right to chose; very few of them support gay rights, the right of gay people to marry,” he said. “That is their agenda, their extreme right-wing agenda.”

These comments come after Dr. Carson announced on “Meet The Press” that he would “love” to see Roe v. Wade overturned. While most of the GOP candidates take the stance that abortion should be illegal except in difficult cases, Carson has taken on a more conservative stance on abortion: no abortions for any case, except rare situations where the mother’s life is at risk: “Rape and incest, I would not be in favor of killing a baby.”

Sanders believes all the GOP candidates are members of a “very right-wing extremist Republican Party.” He’s bringing out the big guns with his rhetoric by referring to the opposing team in the same way we refer to terrorists.

However, it looks like Republican voters don’t share Sanders’ view of Dr. Carson. Carson is now ahead of Donald Trump, the previous GOP front-runner, and is currently the greatest threat to the Democrats winning the White House next year. This exchange is further proof of the immense and divisive ideological gap that the 2016 campaign is creating.
