A senior NASA scientist has been sentenced to just 30 days in prison for lying about his Chinese university professorship and participation in a Chinese government program to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and NASA. Meyya Meyyappan, a 66-year-old from Pacifica, California, has worked for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) since about 1996. Around 2006, Meyyappan became the Chief Scientist, Exploration Technology at the Center for Nanotechnology, for NASA’s Ames Research Center at Moffett Field located in Silicon Valley, California.
