As is being widely reported, Neil Gorsuch was confirmed today to the Supreme Court by a 54-45 vote. There are a lot of people to thank for the fact that such a distinguished conservative legal scholar and judge is to take Justice Scalia’s seat at the Court, most importantly Jim DeMint and the Heritage Foundation as well as Leonard Leo and the Federalist Society, both of whom President Trump has publicly acknowledged helped guide his short list of nominees. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell should also be thanked for recognizing that the Democrats had already changed the rules of the game
