Last month here at The Pulse, Joshua Pinho wrote on Rev. Bill Owens, president and founder of the Coalition of African-American Pastors, who was at that time preparing for the upcoming Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage.  Pastor Owens suggested then that civil disobedience might be called for in the case that the Supreme Court redefined marriage for the entire country.

This has now, of course, come to pass, putting the religious rights of those who disagree in jeopardy.  In response, OneNewsNow reports that Rev. Owens met in Dallas this week with the Coalition he founded in order to ignite a new civil rights movement:

“We never galvanized the masses of the Christians, and so we met in Dallas to start a movement, really like that of the civil rights movement, but a Christian rights movement, because they’re stripping us of all of our Christian rights,” the pastor laments. “To offset this, we must have a movement.”

The first step, Owens argues, is for Christians to become aware of and cease supporting businesses which work to further the radical homosexual agenda and undermine religious liberty:

“We’re going to pick a major store chain to boycott. We’ve already picked the boycott,” he explains. “We’re not announcing which one yet, but we’ll boycott one day all over the country and let them know that they cannot talk out of both ends of their mouths by supporting everything the gay community does.”

It’s clear Pastor Owens and the Coalition of African-American Pastors are not content to give up on marriage or religious liberty without a fight.  Are other Christians prepared to join them?
