Speaking before a group of Ohio Right to Life supporters in Columbus over the weekend, Sen. Marco Rubio asked an excellent question: If Planned Parenthood is so great, why can’t they raise their own funds instead of taking hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars every year?

(The answer might be that the allegedly “non-profit” Planned Parenthood wants to continue turning a profit, as they do every year to the tune of tens of millions of dollars…)

In this case, it really doesn’t matter whether you’re pro-life or pro-choice. We should all agree that what’s happening in Planned Parenthood, being revealed in these videos, is atrocious. It’s grotesque. It’s barbaric. And there’s more to come. They shouldn’t get a penny in federal funding. Why? If they’re such a great organization, let them raise all the money [themselves]!

Instead, let’s take the money that they’re getting for women’s health issues — non-abortion women’s health issues, what they say they spend it on – let’s take that money, not cut it — let’s take it and let’s give it to federally qualified health centers all across the country who are providing women’s health care without doing these sorts of atrocious activities that we’re seeing in those videos.
