EXCLUSIVE: Chief of Staff to ‘Biden Whisperer’ and ‘Biden Admin Power Player’ Chris Coons Just Registered As Lobbyist for the Chinese Communist Party-Owned Alibaba

Chris Coons, the Senate successor to Joe Biden also known as the “Biden whisperer” and “power player” in a potential Biden administration has seen his recent Chief of Staff register as a lobbyist for Chinese Communist Party-linked Alibaba.

Adam Bramwell leveraged his credentials as the Senator’s Chief of Staff and General Counsel from 2016 to 2019 to procure the role of Managing Director at the consulting behemoth Mercury Public Affairs.

On August 1st 2020, he registered as a lobbyist for Alibaba, a Chinese company whose founder Jack Ma is a member of the Chinese Communist Party who insisted he was “in love with them.”

In 2015 Forbes reported the “Chinese Government Has A Huge “Stake” In Alibaba” and The New York Times unearthed the company’s “deep political connections of the investment firms, Boyu Capital, Citic Capital Holdings and CDB Capital, the China Development Bank’s private investment arm” in 2014.

The Times also noted Alibaba’s “senior executive ranks included sons or grandsons of the most powerful members of the ruling Communist Party.”

Providing Alibaba with the expertise gained at taxpayer expense in the Coons office is egregious in light of the Chinese Communist Party’s human rights abuses and assault on American jobs.

The hire, however, is made exponentially worse coming amidst the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, where millions have died as a result of the Chinese Communist Party spawning and spreading the disease while withholding vital information from the World Health Organization and the world writ large.

It also casts Bramwell’s dealings with China while in Congress in an interesting light; why would the Chinese Communist Party knowingly hire a lobbyist they felt had attempted to thwart the regime’s attempts to overtake the U.S. to assist in the areas of “technology policy issues,” “access to US capital markets,” and “issues related to e-commerce”?

Perhaps Bramwell’s extensive ties to Coons – dubbed by Politico as “The Biden whisperer” – are the reason why.

Coons extolled Bramwell in a press release detailing his shift from Chief of Staff to Senior Adviser, emphasizing “for over thirty years, Adam has been one of my closest friends and confidantes” and how the pair would enjoy “continued collaboration and close friendship.”

Coons, who replaced Biden in the Senate when he departed for the vice presidency, has also been described by Politico as “maintaining almost familial ties with Biden” and playing a “critical role in shepherding the former vice president’s legislative priorities.”

COONS THE CCP-LINKED ‘POWER PLAYER’

“If Joe Biden wins in November, much of his agenda will hinge on a potentially surprising power player: Chris Coons,” Politico continued.

Coons, therefore, had a prominent role in the Democratic National Convention (DNC) as both a speaker and surrogate arguing against charges Biden is soft on China. Most recently, the Senator defended the candidate for allocating a negligible amount of time to the Chinese Communist Party in his speech and throughout the DNC while slamming President Trump for his COVID-19 response.

“I’ll remind you, back in January and February as the pandemic was spreading around the world, it was Donald Trump who was saying positive things, cozying up to Xi Jinping, and it was Joe Biden who was sounding the alarm bells about this pandemic,” Coons argued,” he remarked during an interview on Fox News Sunday.

The provably false remarks prompted President Trump to call the Senator a “very weak and pathetic Schumer puppet” on Twitter.

In light of the revolving door between Chinese Communist Party linked Alibaba and Coons’s office, the Senator has little authority to absolve Biden of being soft on China.

Bramwell has also procured relationships with a host of organizations at the forefront of arguing for closer ties between the Chinese Communist Party and the U.S. For example, Bramwell spoke at an “off-the-record program” on the U.S.-China relationship at the National Committee on U.S. China Relations.

He appeared to continue beefing up his involvement with pro-China lobby groups, becoming a member of the US-Asia Institute (USAI) Congressional Circle which boasts lobbyists for Chinese Communist Party linked companies such as Huawei, banned by the Trump administration for providing the Chinese government backdoor access to its devices and identified by the U.S. Department of Defense as a Chinese military proxy.
