We’ve come a long way from President Donald Trump’s near-daily briefing room appearances. But on Day 55, the White House finally saved the date for a presidential press conference… and it’s tomorrow!!!
(P)Sick of the (P)Sarcasm.
“Soon. Maybe I’ll have an update for you by the end of the day. We’ll see. By the end of the month. By the end of the month. I will see if we have landed a full date yet… You could all place bets and see. Put some money in the pot.”
Who knew: Scheduling a press conference for this president is a production on the scale of planning a major trip! But the bit has stopped being funny. Reporters are asking eminently reasonable questions: Why can’t Biden schedule a press conference when the last president took the podium on a near-daily basis? Why is the president only traveling to key electoral swing states if all Americans are facing a crisis? For Psaki, it’s all laughs.
The White House announced later that he would hold a press conference on Thursday, March 25.
Harris Makes Virtual U.N. Debut… While Touring Denver Empanada Shop.
The Biden White House has made its official debut in the United Nations. Kamala Harris delivered pre-recorded remarks Tuesday to the 65th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, making her the highest-ranking U.S. government official to ever address the U.N. body.
Harris’s remarks were pre-recorded because she and husband Doug Emhoff have been on the road to promote Biden’s already-popular federal stimulus plan.
“There’s rarely been a bill that’s so concrete and tangible,” Harris said in the Rose Garden last Friday. The states selected for the cross-country tour—Nevada, Colorado, Pennsylvania and Georgia—will all have Senate elections in 2022.
Biden alluded on Friday to the fact that he could—but hadn’t—asked Harris to oversee rollout of the signature stimulus package. “I know from experience when the President turned to me—like I haven’t done to the vice president yet—and said, ‘Take care of it. You take care of implementing the plan,'” Biden said. “But she could do it.”
