Ron DeSantis, Governor of Florida, has slipped in the polls as the news of former President Donald J. Trump’s second indictment dominates the headlines. As of Friday evening, two polls were released showing DeSantis at 14 and 15 percent respectively.
A Harvard-Harris poll between June 14 and 15 showed the Florida governor dropping several points against Donald J. Trump, standing at just 14 percent amongst Republican voters. Trump himself stood at 59 percent. Harvard-Harris surveyed 2,090 registered voters.
Data seen earlier in the day, from ‘Big Village’ for their Caravan, omnibus study, showed similar results.
Asked “At this moment, who among the following would you prefer to see as the Republican Nominee for President in 2024?” a majority of 56.4 percent answered, “Donald J. Trump,” while only 15.3 percent opted for Governor DeSantis.
Trump’s numbers haven’t shifted. This means DeSantis is bleeding to the other candidates in the race, including Mike Pence (nine percent), Nikki Haley (4.5 percent), Tim Scott (3.6 percent), and Vivek Ramaswamy (3.2 percent). Even Peter Griffin polls at 1.4 percent, while Larry Elder, Doug Burgham, Asa Hutchinson, and others poll around or below one percent.
Big Village is a data and marketing agency based in New York City and founded in 2018. They perform regular “omnibus” polls which you can see the results for, in detail, here.
