Former President Donald Trump has announced that he will ask for the recusal of Judge Tanya Chutkan on ‘very powerful grounds’, stating that he will not receive a fair trial if she presides over the federal case alleging that he conspired to overturn the 2020 election. The far left has mocked the idea that an obviously partisan judge might be biased against the 45th President.
Chutkan gave Trump’s team on Saturday until 5 pm ET on Monday to respond to the persecutor’s request for a protective order, which would prevent Trump and his legal team from sharing discovery materials with the public. Trump took to Truth Social to make the announcement on Sunday:
“THERE IS NO WAY I CAN GET A FAIR TRIAL WITH THE JUDGE “ASSIGNED” TO THE RIDICULOUS CASE. EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS, AND SO DOES SHE! WE WILL BE IMMEDIATELY ASKING FOR RECUSAL OF THIS JUDGE ON VERY POWERFUL GROUNDS, AND LIKEWISE FOR VANUE CHANCE, OUT [OF] D.C.”
The foreign-born, Obama-appointed Judge Chutkan donated several thousand to Barack Obama’s presidential campaign in 2008 and acted as the “hardest” judge overseeing the prosecution of Jan 6 protestors, even exceeding the Department of Justice’s sentencing recommendations, it was revealed earlier this week.
The former President has also announced that he will be looking for a change in venue from the “Democrat-dominated” United States capitol Washington D.C. to West Virginia.
