Saudi Arabian border guards injured or killed hundreds of mainly Ethiopian migrants attempting to cross the Yemen-Saudi border between March 2022 and June 2023, according to a report published on Monday, which claims the guards even asked some migrants which limb they would prefer shot.
Human Rights Watch claims the enforcement of strict border policies saw “women, men, and children’s bodies strewn across the mountainous landscape severely injured, already dead and dismembered,” according to a witness, with another explaining, “[t]here are some people who you cannot identify because their bodies are thrown everywhere. Some people were torn in half…”

The Saudi government has been quick to denounce the report, with a government official claiming its main assertions are “unfounded and not based on reliable sources.”
There are around 750,000 thousand Ethiopians living in Saudi Arabia, with many on the North African coast viewing the country as a land of opportunity. Migrants usually travel in groups of up to 200 people, starting the journey by crossing the Gulf of Aden, which separates the Arabian peninsula from mainland Africa.

Former President Joe Biden, 83, finally weighed in on the ongoing immigration enforcement actions in Minnesota, issuing a meandering and moralizing statement addressing the deaths of anti-ICE activists Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti. Notably, the surge in immigration enforcement operations under President Donald J. Trump is a direct result of the open borders policies under Biden, which saw millions—potentially tens of millions—of illegal immigrants enter the United States over four years.
“What has unfolded in Minneapolis this past month betrays our most basic values as Americans. We are not a nation that guns down our citizens in the street,” Biden wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter). The octogenarian former president continued, “We are not a nation that allows our citizens to be brutalized for exercising their constitutional rights. We are not a nation that tramples the 4th Amendment and tolerates our neighbors being terrorized.”
“No single person can destroy what America stands for and believes in, not even a President, if we — all of America — stand up and speak out. We know who we are. It’s time to show the world. More importantly, it’s time to show ourselves,” Biden stated, adding: “Jill and I are sending strength to the families and communities who love Alex Pretti and Renee Good as we all mourn their senseless deaths.”
Notably, one of the first actions of President Trump was to end the legal protections granted by the Biden government for illegal immigrants who utilized the CBP One app—with Trump later repurposing the app to facilitate self-deportation. It is estimated that over 900,000 illegal immigrants utilized the CBP One app under the former Biden government to enter the United States since it launched in January 2023.
The National Pulse reported in April 2024 that illegal immigration under Biden had—at that point—approached 9.4 million, close to the volume of all legal immigration processed at Ellis Island. The federal processing facility operated from 1892, when former Civil War colonel Benjamin Harrison was President, to 1954, when President Dwight Eisenhower’s government closed it down, during which time around 12 million legal immigrants passed through it.
Several surges in illegal border crossings and the Biden government’s parole policies likely resulted in millions more illegals entering the United States before Trump’s inauguration in January 2025. This means the total number of illegal immigrants that entered the United States under Biden likely ranges from 10 to 20 million.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Migration Minister Elma Saiz and Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, VOX leader Santiago Abascal.
📍WHEN & WHERE: The decree will be approved on January 27 in Spain.
💬KEY QUOTE: “500,000 illegals! The tyrant Sánchez hates the Spanish people. He wants to replace them. That’s why he intends to promote the pull effect by decree, to accelerate the invasion. We must stop him. Repatriations, deportations, and remigration.” – Santiago Abascal.
🎯IMPACT: The regularization policy presents a threat to the wider European Union (EU), as once granted legal status by one EU member, migrants can typically move around the borderless Schengen Area even more easily.
IN FULL
Spain’s left-wing government is preparing to approve a decree that would grant amnesty to around 500,000 illegal immigrants, according to Migration Minister Elma Saiz. Speaking on public broadcaster RTVE, Saiz said those covered by the measure would be able to work “in any sector, in any part of the country,” and stressed what she called “the positive impact” of migration.
She added that the policy is about “recognizing and dignifying” people who are already living in Spain. The regularization would apply to migrants who have lived in the country for as little as five months and who applied for international protection before December 31, 2025, as well as their children who are already in Spain. Applications are expected to open in April and run through the end of June.
The leader of Spain’s populist, anti-mass migration VOX party, Santiago Abascal, reacted to the amnesty on X, saying, “500,000 illegals! The tyrant Sánchez hates the Spanish people. He wants to replace them. That’s why he intends to promote the pull effect by decree, to accelerate the invasion. We must stop him. Repatriations, deportations, and remigration.”
The government plans to implement the measure by decree, bypassing parliament, where the Socialist-led governing coalition lacks a majority. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has argued that Spain needs mass migration to fill labor shortages and offset the pressures of an aging population, warning that demographic decline could threaten pensions and the welfare state if left unaddressed—although it is debatable whether the typical migrant is a net contributor to the pensions and welfare systems.
Official crime data and research from the CEU-CEFAS Demographic Observatory suggest that migrants are overrepresented in certain violent crime categories, including rape and homicide, compared with native Spaniards. Those findings have fueled criticism from opposition figures and commentators who argue that large-scale regularization could worsen public safety and strain social services.
Across Europe, migration policy remains deeply divisive. European Union (EU) institutions have simultaneously promoted so-called legal pathways for migrants, including online platforms designed to attract non-EU workers to address labor shortages, while many member states have tightened national controls in response to public backlash. Notably, because of the EU’s borderless Schengen Area, migrants regularized by one member state tend to have easy access to every member state, extending the consequences of Spain’s decision far beyond its borders.
During a 2025 visit to Europe, President Donald J. Trump urged governments on the continent to “get your act together,” warning that “this immigration is killing Europe” and describing what he called a “horrible invasion.”

🎯IMPACT: The debate could affect broadcasters’ competitiveness against digital media giants.
IN FULL
The Senate Commerce Committee, chaired by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), is reportedly planning a hearing next month to discuss the national TV ownership cap.
Newsmax founder and CEO Chris Ruddy, who recently “maxed out” in donations to Senator Cruz, is due to appear before the committee, arguing in favor of cable news giants and against broadcasters in the latter’s attempt to lift the cap, a topic The National Pulse has covered in detail and has expressed editorial perspective on.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) previously issued a Public Notice in July to refresh the record on whether the national ownership cap should be modified, with Trump ally Chairman Brendan Carr overseeing the discussion.
Broadcasters and pro-business advocacy groups favor relaxing or eliminating the cap, arguing that it limits their ability to compete with digital media giants such as YouTube for viewers and advertising revenue.
Ruddy and other cable news giants have been lobbying President Trump in the opposite direction, which, in many cases, could hinder more conservative voices in broadcast media. Their motivations appear linked to their market-dominant positions, rather than the Reaganite legacy they have attempted to invoke.
Ruddy is also believed to have directly approached President Trump on the matter, earning him a sharp rebuke from the Wall Street Journal and MAGA voices in Washington, D.C.
Cruz recently made news after disclosing to donors that President Trump had told him, “F*ck you, Ted!” after Cruz openly opposed his tariff policies and lashed out at Vice President J.D. Vance.
Cruz has previously boasted about his relationship with Ruddy, who maxed out to him in donations in 2023. “Chris is a good friend, and I talk with him frequently,” Cruz told POLITICO in November.

The corporate media has been caught using a digitally enhanced and altered photograph of Alex Pretti, the 37-year-old man who was shot and killed during a confrontation with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) officers in Minneapolis, Minnesota, last weekend. The enhancements and alterations to Pretti’s nursing staff photo, aired by MS NOW, resulted in a change to his jaw size, added more color to his skin, added more detail to his teeth and beard, similar to a Snapchat-style filter.
During a segment on MS NOW on Monday, anchor Nicole Wallace states, “Donald Trump and his administration are demanding once again that you do not believe your eyes and ears,” while airing the altered photo of Pretti. In addition to airing on MS NOW’s Monday broadcast, the altered photograph also appeared on a digital billboard as part of a tribute ahead of a women’s professional hockey game featuring the New York Sirens versus the Minnesota Frost.

The changes have received widespread pushback on social media, with some commenters likening it to an Instagram “glow-up,” and others speculating the alterations are intentional as part of an effort to turn Americans against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and CBP agents deployed to Minnesota as part of Operation Metro Surge.
Pretti, an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center, was shot and killed last Saturday after attempting to interfere with an immigration enforcement action. His death sparked violent riots outside a Minneapolis hotel that anti-ICE agitators believed to be housing federal agents.
The National Pulse previously reported that, late Sunday evening, violent leftist protestors laid siege to the front entrance of the Home2 Suites Hotel on University Avenue in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Federal agents, hotel security, and several Minneapolis police officers were filmed defending the building’s entrance. However, the local police response appeared sparse, with arrests only being made after a federal law enforcement officer was bloodied from being hit by a projectile.

🎯IMPACT: The situation underscores tensions over immigration enforcement and judicial authority in Minnesota.
IN FULL
Minnesota’s top federal judge, U.S. District Court Judge Patrick Schiltz, has ordered Todd Lyons, the acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), to appear in court on Friday. Judge Schiltz is demanding that Lyons respond to allegations that ICE has repeatedly defied judicial orders in the state.
In a three-page order on Monday night, Judge Schiltz expressed his frustration with the agency’s actions during Operation Metro Surge, the Trump administration’s ongoing immigration enforcement action in the Twin Cities. The operation has led to numerous lawsuits from immigrants claiming unlawful detention.
The judge claims in his order that the administration has been slow or outright resistant to complying with federal judges’ directives in Minnesota, including his own. He noted the case of an individual he ordered released on January 15, who remained detained as of Monday night.
“The court’s patience is at an end,” Judge Schiltz wrote, continuing, “The practical consequence of respondents’ failure to comply has almost always been significant hardship to aliens (many of whom have lawfully lived and worked in the United States for years and done absolutely nothing wrong). The detention of an alien is extended, or an alien who should remain in Minnesota is flown to Texas, or an alien who has been flown to Texas is released there and told to figure out a way to get home.”
Previously, Judge Schiltz declined to overturn a federal magistrate judge’s decision not to approve federal charges against disgraced journalist and ex-CNN anchor Don Lemon. Notably, Schiltz used the Lemon case as an opportunity to scold the administration over what he believes are unlawful detentions.

💬KEY QUOTE: “I want to congratulate Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton on a remarkable career… Her work embodies the unwavering resolve of a city that refuses to yield in its fight for equal representation,” said D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser.
🎯IMPACT: Norton’s decision opens the door for new candidates, including former staffer Trent Holbrook, to vie for the D.C. delegate seat.
IN FULL
Eleanor Holmes Norton, the oldest member of the U.S. House of Representatives will not seek another term in the 2026 election. Norton, the 88-year-old non-voting delegate from Washington, D.C.,, filed a termination report with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) on Sunday, signaling the end of her 35-year tenure.
The National Pulse reported last October that Norton, who is believed to be suffering from a diminished cognitive state, fell victim to a scam at her D.C. home, losing thousands of dollars. Posing as HVAC workers, a group of people entered her apartment, charged her nearly $4,400 using her credit card, and left without performing any work. The fraud was discovered when Norton’s house manager, Jacqueline Pelt, reviewed security footage and called the police.
Following Norton’s decision not to run for re-election, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser paid tribute to the long-term Democrat lawmaker in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “I want to congratulate Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton on a remarkable career. For 35 years, Congresswoman Norton has been our Warrior on the Hill—from securing shutdown protection for the city and the creation of DCTAG, to defeating continued attacks on Home Rule and leading historic votes in the House for DC Statehood.” Bowser herself announced in November last year that she would not seek a fourth term as mayor.
Notably, a number of top Democrat officials have pushed for Norton to retire, especially following the October scamming incident. Late last year, former Democratic National Committee (DNC) acting chair and political strategist Donna Brazile called on the 88-year-old D.C. Delegate to Congress to retire. Writing in the Washington Post, Brazile stated, “It’s in her best interest, and the interest of D.C., for her to serve her current term but then end her extraordinary service in Congress and not seek reelection next year.”
Norton, who first assumed office in 1991, has held the delegate seat for over three decades. Several people, including former Norton staffer Trent Holbrook, have announced their candidacies for the position before her retirement. Holbrook remarked, “I think it’s evident that she’s not going to successfully run. Congresswoman Norton is one of the most successful lawmakers in American history.”
The D.C. delegate’s role does not include voting on legislation like regular House representatives but does allow for the introduction of legislation and participation in committees.

🎯IMPACT: Abbott’s intervention underscores how unreliable leading Republicans can still be on key issues.
IN FULL
Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) has called on the Trump administration to reconsider its approach to immigration enforcement following the shooting of Alex Pretti during a confrontation with Border Patrol agents over the weekend. Pretti was killed Saturday in Minneapolis during a chaotic encounter with Border Patrol agents. The shooting came just weeks after the fatal shooting of Renee Good, whohit a federal agent with her car while trying to evade detention.
Abbott addressed the issue during an appearance on The Mark Davis Show, where he was asked what advice he would give Trump to help restore public support for ICE. Abbott, who has presided over the explosive growth of Islam in his state, and the institution of a state Pakistan Day, called for a shift in approach.
“In general, we need to have respect for law enforcement officers in the country. ICE, they are law enforcement officers. So they, being the White House, need to recalibrate on what needs to be done to make sure that respect is going to be re-instilled,” Abbott said. “That’s not an easy task, especially under the current circumstances. But I know that they’re working on a game plan to make sure that they’re going to recalibrate, maybe work from a different direction, to ensure that they get back to what they wanted to do to begin with, which is to remove people from the country who are here illegally, who were allowed in by Joe Biden—and especially those who posed the most danger.”
In recent years, Abbott has been criticized for his questionable positions, including condemning right-leaning online platforms as extremist while engaging in diplomatic or economic cooperation involving officials linked to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

🎯IMPACT: The remarks highlight renewed tensions between Caracas and Washington following the capture of ousted dictator Nicolas Maduro by U.S. forces, as Venezuela remains under U.S. sanctions and reliant on U.S. decisions regarding oil licenses.
IN FULL
Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodríguez, formerly ousted dictator Nicolás Maduro’s vice president, appears to be publicly breaking with U.S. President Donald J. Trump, delivering a sharp rebuke of American involvement in Venezuelan politics during a speech to oil workers in Puerto La Cruz on Sunday. Her remarks were broadcast on state-run channel Venezolana de Televisión. “Enough already of Washington’s orders over politicians in Venezuela,” she said, calling for the country to resolve its own internal conflicts.
Rodríguez’s comments come as Venezuela faces U.S. sanctions and remains dependent on American decisions regarding oil licenses. The Trump administration had previously allowed Rodríguez to remain in power on an interim basis, citing Washington’s influence on her decision-making. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated earlier this month, “We obviously have maximum leverage over the interim authorities in Venezuela right now.”
The United States recently announced an arrangement to purchase 30 million to 50 million barrels of Venezuelan oil at market price, with at least one sale valued at $500 million already completed. Meanwhile, Venezuela’s legislature has approved an initial vote to loosen state control over its oil reserves, a move seemingly aimed at encouraging U.S. investment in the industry.
Rodríguez also addressed the Venezuelan opposition on Saturday, calling for “agreements” on the nation’s political future and emphasizing peace over partisan differences. However, opposition leader Maria Corina Machado expressed skepticism, labeling Rodríguez “a communist” and a representative of regimes in Russia, China, and Iran.

💬KEY QUOTE: “They want to make a deal. I know so. They called on numerous occasions. They want to talk,” said President Trump.
🎯IMPACT: The arrival of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike group comes amid possible strikes against the Islamic Republic following a deadly crackdown on anti-regime protestors.
IN FULL
The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike group, consisting of the carrier and three guided-missile destroyers, has entered the Central Command region of the Middle East, which includes Iran. The group carries squadrons of F/A-18E/F Super Hornets, EA-18G Growlers, F-35C fighter jets, and MH-60R/S helicopters.
This development follows renewed warnings from Iran, with General Mohammad Pakpour of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stating, “The Islamic Revolutionary Guards and dear Iran stand more ready than ever, finger on the trigger, to execute the orders and directives of the Commander-in-Chief.” Iran’s Defense Ministry spokesman, Gen. Reza Talaei-Nik, also warned that any U.S. attack would be met with a “more painful and more decisive” response than in the past.
President Donald J. Trump revealed last Thursday that the U.S. had a “massive fleet” heading toward Iran “just in case” action is needed, though he added, “maybe we won’t have to use it.” He has also repeatedly warned Iranian leaders against the killing of peaceful demonstrators and mass executions of those arrested during protests.
On Monday, the U.S. President described the situation regarding Iran as being “in flux,” but suggested that Iran’s ruling mullahs are looking to cut a deal. “They want to make a deal. I know so. They called on numerous occasions. They want to talk,” Trump said. American officials stress that any deal must include a guarantee that Iran will hand over all of its enriched uranium, limit stockpiles of ballistic missiles, and end its funding of terrorist proxies. These terms are believed to be largely unacceptable to hardliners within the Iranian state.
The carrier group was reportedly not yet “on station” as of Monday morning, meaning it had not reached its ultimate position. However, its presence in the region opens a multitude of U.S. military options in the region and buffers assets should President Trump determine a strike on Iran’s regime is necessary.

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents involved in the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis over the weekend were wearing body cameras. The White House is reviewing the footage, while the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) are interviewing witnesses and the agents involved, according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
“The President has said we have to review it and this investigation has to continue,” Leavitt said during the White House briefing on Monday. However, she did not commit—without first speaking to President Donald J. Trump—on whether the body camera footage would be released to the public.
Meanwhile, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem stated that all video evidence would be analyzed as part of the investigation. President Donald Trump also commented, saying his administration is “reviewing everything” related to the shooting. Both Trump and Leavitt have stressed the need for cooperation between federal and local law enforcement.
“Mr. Homan is the point person for cooperation between local and federal law enforcement,” Leavitt said at the White House, referring to Border Czar Tom Homan. She suggested that if Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D) commit to ensuring criminal illegal immigrants detained by state and local law enforcement are handed over to federal agents, the current CBP presence in the state will change.
The National Pulse reported earlier on Monday that President Trump had announced in a post on Truth Social that he has spoken with Gov. Walz and that the Democrat will “work together” with the administration as ICE seeks to secure criminal illegal aliens in the state.
President Trump suggested that White House Border Czar Homan is heading to Minnesota to work with Walz on securing the criminal aliens currently held in state and local jails and transferring them to federal custody.
