Terrorist Who Killed Swedish Soccer Fans in Belgium Shot Dead in EU Capital.

Suspected radical Islamic terrorist Abdesalem Lassoued, a 45-year-old Tunisian, has been shot dead in the Belgian and European Union capital of Brussels, after being hunted down by Belgian counter-terrorism police.

The migrant was believed to have shot and killed two Swedish soccer fans just three miles from the King Baudouin Stadium, where Sweden was playing against Belgium in a qualifier for the European Football Championship 2024, in what the Belgian prime minister described as “an act of terrorism”. The match was suspended following the slayings.

Lassoued reportedly carried out the attack with a Kalashnikov-style rifle – despite strict European gun controls – and cried “Allahu Akbar!” as he struck. The common Arabic phrase roughly translates to “[Our] God is greater [than your God]!”

Police shot him in the Schaerbeek area of Brussels.

China Places New Restrictions on Rare Earth Exports, Breaking U.S. Trade Deal.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: China has announced new export controls on rare earth minerals and equipment, targeting industries reliant on these resources.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: China’s Commerce Ministry, President Donald J. Trump, U.S. defense contractors, and global industries dependent on rare earths.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Export restrictions take effect immediately domestically, with extraterritorial rules beginning December 1, ahead of the APEC summit in South Korea.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Rare earth-related items have dual-use characteristics. It is common international practice to impose export controls on them.” – Chinese Commerce Ministry spokesman

🎯IMPACT: The measures could disrupt global supply chains, particularly for U.S. defense contractors and industries reliant on rare earths.

IN FULL

China has imposed new restrictions on exporting rare earth minerals and other critical materials, likely impacting U.S. and. European manufacturers and defense industries. The new export controls were detailed in two notices from China‘s Commerce Ministry on Thursday.

China, which dominates the global supply of rare earths, stated that the measures are necessary to “safeguard national security and interests.” Under the new rules, foreign exporters of products containing rare earths sourced from China must obtain licenses from Beijing’s commerce ministry. Licenses for products with “military use” will largely be denied, according to Chinese authorities.

The rules also bar Chinese firms from cooperating in specified fields and deny export licenses to foreign entities classified as dual-use or military end users. These restrictions could directly affect American companies that supply the U.S. Department of War. Export applications for advanced semiconductor-related items will now be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

A Chinese Commerce Ministry spokesman stated, “For some time now, some foreign organizations and individuals have been transferring or supplying controlled rare earth items originating in China, either directly or after processing, to organizations and individuals concerned for direct or indirect use in sensitive areas such as the military, causing significant harm or posing a potential threat to China’s national security and interests.”

The new rules are seen as a strategic move by Beijing ahead of a planned meeting between President Donald J. Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the APEC summit in South Korea. Beijing controls 60 percent of global production and an estimated 90 percent of processing, giving it significant leverage in negotiations with the United States.

The National Pulse reported earlier this year that President Trump had loosened some tariffs on China on the understanding that Beijing would reciprocate by removing certain controls on rare earth minerals. However, in June, U.S. trade negotiators in Geneva, Switzerland, accused China of having failed to lift export restrictions, citing that U.S. manufacturers who have reported significant delays in securing rare earth shipments, with some suppliers demanding sensitive information, such as photos of end-user facilities, to complete applications.

Texas Arrests Eight Illegal Abortionists, Half Are Foreign Nationals.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Eight people, including four foreign nationals, were arrested for allegedly collaborating with a Houston-area abortion provider accused of illegal procedures and practicing medicine without a license.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R), Maria Rojas, and the eight arrested suspects.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The arrests were announced on October 8, 2025, following law enforcement operations across the Houston area.

💬KEY QUOTE: “In Texas, life is sacred. I will always do everything in my power to protect the unborn, defend our state’s pro-life laws, and work to ensure that unlicensed individuals endangering the lives of women by performing illegal abortions are fully prosecuted.” — Ken Paxton.

🎯IMPACT: The arrests highlight Texas’s commitment to enforcing its strict abortion laws and ensuring medical practices operate within legal boundaries.

IN FULL

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) announced on Wednesday, October 8, the arrests of eight people accused of operating illegal abortion clinics in the Houston area. The arrests are connected to Maria Margarita Rojas, a 49-year-old midwife previously indicted on 15 felony counts, including the unlawful killing of unborn babies and practicing medicine without a license. Rojas allegedly operated unlicensed clinics in northwest Houston, where prosecutors say she and others performed illegal medical procedures, including abortions.

The suspects arrested this week were allegedly working under Rojas, providing unauthorized medical services without proper licensing. Those named by Paxton’s office include Yaimara Hernandez Alvarez, Alina Valeron Leon, Dalia Coromoto Yanez, Yhonder Lebrun Acosta, Liunet Grandales Estrada, Gerardo Otero Aguero, Sabiel Bosch Gongora, and Jose Manuel Cendan Ley. According to a statement from Paxton, these individuals “endangered the very people they pretended to help” by operating outside the law.

“In Texas, life is sacred. I will always do everything in my power to protect the unborn, defend our state’s pro-life laws, and work to ensure that unlicensed individuals endangering the lives of women by performing illegal abortions are fully prosecuted,” Attorney General Paxton said.

These arrests follow the recent closure of a major Planned Parenthood facility in Houston, once one of the largest abortionist clinics in the country. Texas enforces some of the strongest pro-life laws in the United States, banning nearly all abortions except in limited medical emergencies.

Rojas is the first person charged under a new Texas law that heightens penalties for those involved in unlawful abortions.

UK Synagogue Terrorist Had Three Wives, Swore Allegiance to Islamic State.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Syrian immigrant Jihad al-Shamie, who carried out a deadly attack at Heaton Park Hebrew Synagogue in Manchester, England, is revealed to have been an Islamic State (ISIS) acolyte with three wives.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Jihad al-Shamie, British police officers, and British Jews, including attack victims Melvin Cravitz and Adrian Daulby.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The morning of Thursday, October 2, outside Heaton Park Hebrew Synagogue in Crumpsall, Manchester, during Yom Kippur, with more information released this week.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Minutes after the first call was made to GMP [Greater Manchester Police] and as firearms officers were making their way to the scene, al-Shamie called 999 claiming responsibility for the attack. He also pledged allegiance to Islamic State.” — Assistant Chief Constable Rob Potts

🎯IMPACT: Two people were killed, several others were injured, and the Manchester Jewish community was deeply traumatized.

IN FULL

Jihad al-Shamie, the Syrian immigrant responsible for the deadly attack at a synagogue in Manchester, England, on Yom Kippur, called emergency services during the assault to declare his allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist group. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that al-Shamie dialed the 999 emergency line just minutes after the first reports of the incident were received, using the call to both claim responsibility and express his support for the Islamic terrorist group. He is also reported to have had three wives, including two white converts.

Assistant Chief Constable Rob Potts of Counter Terrorism Policing North West said, “Minutes after the first call was made to GMP and as firearms officers were making their way to the scene, al-Shamie called 999 claiming responsibility for the attack. He also pledged allegiance to Islamic State.”

The attack began when Al-Shamie drove a car into worshippers outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Synagogue. He then exited the vehicle armed with knives and wearing a fake suicide belt, attempting to stab people and storm the building during the Yom Kippur service. Worshippers and security staff managed to hold the synagogue doors shut until armed officers arrived.

Two men were killed in the incident. Melvin Cravitz, 66, died at the scene, while Adrian Daulby, 53, was fatally shot by police by mistake while trying to keep the attacker from entering the building. Another man, Yoni Finlay, was also wounded by police gunfire and remains in hospital.

Although al-Shamie pledged allegiance to ISIS in his 999 call, MI5 has found no evidence of direct contact between him and any proscribed terrorist group. Police now believe he was a self-radicalised lone actor inspired by Islamist extremist ideology. He was not previously known to MI5 or the government’s Prevent programme.

The attack has intensified scrutiny of the United Kingdom’s counter-terrorism systems, particularly following reports that al-Shamie was on bail for a rape charge at the time of the incident. His ability to carry out a deadly attack while supposedly under police supervision has raised questions about their handling of high-risk individuals.

IRS to Furlough Half Its Staff as Democrats’ Government Shutdown Continues.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced it will furlough nearly half of its workforce as the government shutdown continues into its second week.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: The IRS, President Donald J. Trump, Senate Democrats, and the National Treasury Employees Union.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Announced on Wednesday, as the shutdown entered its second week, affecting IRS operations nationwide.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Taxpayers around the country will now have a much harder time getting the assistance they need, just as they get ready to file their extension returns due next week.” – Doreen Greenwald, National Treasury Employees Union President.

🎯IMPACT: Taxpayers face delays, increased wait times, and backlogs while IRS operations are curtailed.

IN FULL

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has announced that nearly half of its workforce will be furloughed as the government shutdown continues into its second week. According to an updated contingency plan posted on the agency’s website, only 39,870 employees, or 53.6 percent of its workforce, will remain on the job. Most IRS operations are now closed.

The shutdown stems from Senate Democrats blocking six attempts to pass a short-term federal funding measure. The agency’s initial contingency plan allowed operations to continue for the first five business days using funds from previous appropriations. However, the ongoing shutdown has forced the IRS to scale back its workforce significantly.

Doreen Greenwald, president of the National Treasury Employees Union, warned that taxpayers should expect delays. “Taxpayers around the country will now have a much harder time getting the assistance they need, just as they get ready to file their extension returns due next week,” she stated. Greenwald also emphasized that the growing backlog of work will frustrate taxpayers further as the shutdown persists.

The notice to IRS workers confirmed that furloughed employees and those remaining on the job will receive back pay once the shutdown ends. However, the Trump administration recently cautioned that there is no guarantee of back pay for federal workers during a shutdown unless Congress explicitly appropriates money for the back pay. Last week, the administration estimated that approximately 750,000 federal employees across various agencies would be furloughed, with some potentially losing their jobs.

The IRS, which employed roughly 100,000 workers at the end of 2024, has seen its workforce reduced to around 75,000 as a result of mass layoffs earlier this year.

OpenAI Accuses China of Exploiting ChatGPT for Authoritarian Abuses.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: OpenAI revealed that some China-based ChatGPT users were using the AI chatbot for activities described as “authoritarian abuses,” including cyber operations and social media monitoring.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: OpenAI, China-based accounts allegedly linked to government entities, and other users.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Detailed in OpenAI’s latest threat report for 2025, covering activities observed in 2024. ChatGPT is not officially available in China but is accessed via VPNs.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Our disruption of ChatGPT accounts used by individuals apparently linked to Chinese government entities shines some light on the current state of AI usage in this authoritarian setting,” OpenAI’s report stated.

🎯IMPACT: OpenAI claims to have disrupted over 40 malicious networks since February 2024, shedding light on the misuse of AI by authoritarian regimes and criminal groups.

IN FULL

OpenAI has revealed in its latest threat report that certain China-based ChatGPT accounts have been involved in what it described as “authoritarian abuses.” The company stated that these accounts, some allegedly linked to Chinese Communist Party (CCP) entities, violated policies related to national security uses.

According to the report, some accounts used ChatGPT to generate proposals for systems designed to monitor social media conversations. Others were involved in cyber operations targeting Taiwan’s semiconductor industry, U.S. academia, and political groups critical of the CCP. In some cases, ChatGPT was used to create phishing emails in English to breach IT systems.

The report noted that while ChatGPT is not officially available in China due to the “Great Firewall,” Chinese-language versions of the app are accessed through virtual private networks (VPNs). OpenAI stated, “Our disruption of ChatGPT accounts used by individuals apparently linked to Chinese government entities shines some light on the current state of AI usage in this authoritarian setting.”

Additionally, OpenAI identified cyber operations conducted by Russian and Korean-speaking users. While these activities did not appear to be directly tied to government entities, some users may have been associated with state-backed criminal groups. OpenAI claims to have disrupted over 40 malicious networks since it began releasing public threat reports in February 2024

Pritzker Compares Trump Crackdown on Chicago Crime to ‘Nazi Regime.’

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker (D) compared actions by the Trump administration to tackle crime and enforce federal immigration law in Chicago to the “early days of the Nazi regime” and claimed the National Guard may be deployed at polling places during the 2026 midterm elections.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Governor Pritzker, President Trump, and federal law enforcement agencies.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Statements made on Wednesday, following similar rhetoric at Pritzker’s February budget address.

💬KEY QUOTE: “In the early days of the Nazi regime, they started slowly but surely taking away people’s rights, and what we’re seeing now is the very same thing.” – J.B. Pritzker

🎯IMPACT: The remarks raise concerns over the Democrats’ ongoing and escalating rhetoric, with leftist gunmen already targeting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel and assassinating conservative youth organizer Charlie Kirk in recent weeks.

IN FULL

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker (D) has bizarrely compared President Donald J. Trump’s law enforcement policies to oppression in the Third Reich in a new interview. “In the early days of the Nazi regime, they started slowly but surely taking away people’s rights, and what we’re seeing now is the very same thing,” Pritzker said in an interview this week, in reference to the Trump administration’s deployment of federal forces to cities grappling with incredibly high levels of violent crime in Democrat-run cities.

The comments came after National Guard troops, including several hundred from Texas, arrived in Chicago as part of a federal crime crackdown. Despite Chicago’s ongoing violent crime crisis, Pritzker and other Illinois Democrats are pushing back. The governor claims the deployment is part of a broader plan to “militarize” American cities ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

“Next year, I fear that what they’re going to do is deploy these folks eventually to polling places and say they’re protecting the vote,” Pritzker said. “Donald Trump knows that without shenanigans and without these breaches of the Constitution, he’s going to lose the Congress.”

The White House Rapid Response team slammed the remarks, calling Pritzker a “SICK scumbag” and accusing him of encouraging left-wing extremism with his dangerous rhetoric. Pritzker blamed Trump for “causing the mayhem on the ground,” in response, ignoring the fact that Chicago is often subjected to tens of shootings on the weekend already.

The latest deployments come as federal judges and state officials spar over the legality of Trump’s troop movements. In Oregon, a federal judge temporarily blocked similar efforts to send troops to Portland, Oregon. However, in Illinois, no such ruling has been made yet.

Chicago has long been a focal point for debates over federal intervention. Violent crime remains well above national averages, and cooperation between local and federal law enforcement on migrant crime has been strained under Illinois’s sanctuary state policies.

One recent incident in Broadview, Illinois, saw federal agents attacked while local police allegedly stood down. The standoff highlighted the ongoing breakdown in cooperation between state and federal agencies under Democrat leadership.

‘Antifa Handbook’ Professor Flees America.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A Rutgers University professor responsible for writing an Antifa “handbook” is relocating to Spain following an online petition accusing him of being “Antifa aligned” and a series of alleged death threats.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Mark Bray, a Rutgers assistant teaching professor, and Megyn Doyle, a student and treasurer of the university’s Turning Point USA (TPUSA) chapter.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The events unfolded in New Jersey, with Bray announcing his immediate move to Spain in late October 2025.

💬KEY QUOTE: “This is reflective of the broader trend in the country. The Trump administration, I believe, is moving the country in a markedly authoritarian direction.” – Mark Bray

🎯IMPACT: The incident shows the culture is beginning to shift shift against activist academics, as conservatives become increasingly willing to use the left’s tactics against them in the public arena.

IN FULL

Mark Bray, a Rutgers University assistant teaching professor and author sympathetic to Antifa, is leaving New Jersey with his family and moving to Spain. This follows an online petition launched by Megyn Doyle, a student and treasurer of the school’s Turning Point USA (TPUSA) chapter, which Bray alleges was followed by death threats.

Bray, who wrote the 2017 book Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook, has been accused of supporting political violence and funding Antifa-aligned causes. The petition, which has garnered over 950 signatures, states that Bray’s book promotes “militant anti-fascism” and brands conservative figures fascists. Doyle has called for Bray’s termination, citing his alleged support for a “violent extremist movement.”

Bray has denied being a member of any Antifa group, stating, “I’m not now, nor have I ever been. I’m a history professor, but I support anti-fascism.” He has also attributed the threats and backlash to what he claims is a broader trend of authoritarianism under the Trump administration, supposedly targeting academic freedom and higher education.

“All of this shows the effort to basically make it so that if you’re someone who promotes ideas outside what the Trump administration says its [sic] what real Americans think, you are someone who is not only an enemy, but even a terrorist,” Bray contends. “And that’s what’s wrapped up in this whole campaign to talk about antifa and the more broad antifa-aligned.”

The National Pulse reported in 2020 that Bray was previously denounced by his former employer, Dartmouth University. “Recent statements made by Lecturer in History Mark Bray supporting violent protest do not represent the views of Dartmouth,” the university said at the time, adding: “Dartmouth embraces free speech and open inquiry in all matters, and all on our campus enjoy the freedom to speak, write, listen, and debate in pursuit of better learning and understanding; however, the endorsement of violence in any form is contrary to Dartmouth values.”

Doyle, while condemning the alleged death threats against Bray, has maintained her stance that his actions are incompatible with his role as a university professor. “Free speech does not protect individuals from the consequences of advocating for political violence,” Doyle said.

Rutgers University has acknowledged the situation and stated that they are gathering more information. Bray plans to remain in Spain for at least the academic year.

Leftist Arrested at SCOTUS Mass Had 200 Explosives, Anti-Catholic Manifesto.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A man was arrested outside a Washington, D.C., church with hundreds of explosive devices and a manifesto targeting the Supreme Court and Catholics.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Louis Geri, 41, and police and bomb squad officers.

📍WHEN & WHERE: October 5, at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle during the annual “Red Mass;” further information reported on October 8.

💬KEY QUOTE: “You might want to stay back and call the federales, I have explosives,” Geri told police, according to an affidavit.

🎯IMPACT: The incident highlights ongoing security threats against the Supreme Court and religious institutions, raising concerns about domestic terrorism.

IN FULL

Police have discovered over 200 explosive devices in the tent of a man arrested outside the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle on October 5. The man also allegedly wrote a far-left manifesto expressing hostility toward the Supreme Court, the Roman Catholic Church, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and other institutions. The incident occurred during the annual “Red Mass,” traditionally attended by Supreme Court justices to mark the start of the judicial term. This year, no justices attended due to heightened security concerns.

The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Louis Geri of Vineland, New Jersey, was living in a motel in Mesa, Arizona, prior to the incident. Police found him camped in a tent on the church steps. When approached, he warned officers, “You might want to stay back and call the federales, I have explosives.” He later threatened, “Do you want me to throw one out, I’ll test one out on the streets? I have a hundred-plus of them,” threatening that “Several of your people are gonna die from one of these.”

Officers arrested Geri after he exited his tent to urinate. A vial containing yellow liquid with an attached explosive device was found in his pocket. A search of the tent uncovered over 200 additional devices, some containing nitromethane, a volatile chemical commonly associated with high-powered explosives. Investigators reported that the devices included modified grenades and bottle rockets equipped with aluminum foil and rubber-band secured fuses. Geri also had a butane lighter on him at the time of arrest.

According to court documents, Geri handed police a notebook titled “Written Negotiations for the Avoidance of Destruction of Property via Detonation of Explosives.” Law enforcement said the manifesto revealed “significant animosity towards the Catholic church, members of the Jewish faith, members of SCOTUS, and ICE facilities.” In a jailhouse interview, Geri described his devices as grenades and remotely detonated rockets.

He is currently being held without bond and faces multiple federal charges, including possession and manufacture of destructive devices, making threats to injure, and committing a hate crime with weapons of mass destruction.

This arrest comes amid growing concerns over politically motivated violence, with pro-illegal immigration gunmen targeting ICE in multiple incidents and conservative youth organizer Charlie Kirk being publicly assassinated, allegedly by a leftist with a transgender lover.

TONIGHT: Senate to Vote on Limiting Trump’s War Powers to Target Cartels.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The Senate is set to vote on legislation aimed at limiting President Donald J. Trump’s ability to use military force against drug cartels, focusing on recent strikes against Venezuelan drug traffickers in the Caribbean.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: President Trump, Senate Democrats, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA), Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA), and Sen. Mike Rounds (R-SD), among others.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The vote is set to take place on Wednesday in the U.S. Senate at 6:45 PM, following recent military actions in the Caribbean.

💬KEY QUOTE: “It sends a message when a significant number of legislators say, ‘Hey, this is a bad idea,’” said Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA).

🎯IMPACT: The legislation seeks to reassert congressional authority over war powers, but the White House has indicated President Trump would veto the measure if passed.

IN FULL

The Senate will vote Wednesday evening at 6:45 PM on a resolution aimed at restricting President Donald J. Trump‘s ability to conduct military strikes against drug cartels without congressional authorization. This comes after the U.S. military carried out four strikes on vessels used by Venezuelan drug traffickers in the Caribbean, resulting in 21 deaths and the interception of narcotics.

The Trump White House has argued that drug cartels are armed combatants posing a threat to the U.S., justifying military action under presidential war powers. However, some lawmakers, including Democrats and a few Republicans, question the legal basis for the strikes.

Senators Tim Kaine (D-VA) and Adam Schiff (D-CA) led the push for the resolution, citing concerns about the precedent such actions could set. “This is the kind of thing that leads a country, unexpectedly and unintentionally, into war,” Schiff warned. The resolution, brought under the War Powers Resolution of 1973, would bar further military strikes unless Congress explicitly authorized them.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) was the only Republican to cosponsor the resolution ahead of the vote, although others, such as Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND), expressed concerns about an alleged lack of detailed information from the administration. Sen. Mike Rounds (R-SD), however, defended the President’s actions, stating, “I’m going to vote no when the President is exercising his constitutional responsibility.”

The White House has already indicated that President Trump would veto the resolution if it passed. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also urged senators to oppose the legislation, emphasizing the threat posed by drug cartels to U.S. safety and security.

Despite the support from Sen. Paul, the Democrat-backed resolution is still expected to fall short of the votes needed to pass.
