The British government, which has already imported over 20,000 Afghans to the United Kingdom following Joe Biden’s botched withdrawal from Kabul, is footing the hotel bills of thousands more in Pakistan as they await their chance to be imported too.
Around 3,000 Afghans eligible for resettlement in Britain are believed to be in Islamabad, the Pakistani capital, as the British government had ceased chartering flights and begun asking migrants to arrange their own housing in Britain before arriving. What the British government has been doing, however, is paying for them to live in Pakistani hotels – a service it has also been providing to illegal migrants in Britain itself, at a cost of roughly £8 million (~$10 million) per day.
With the Pakistani government having now ordered Afghans in the country illegally to leave or face deportation starting in November, British deep state diplomats are urging the government to accelerate the process of bringing these Afghans to the United Kingdom. The British government appears ready to comply, and has now waived the requirement for Afghans in Pakistan to arrange their own housing.
At least some of the Afghans imported to Britain already were on watch lists or had previously been deported from the country, but the British government has refused to provide exact numbers in case they result in Afghans being stigmatized.
