Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) said Wednesday that “undocumented Americans” are the people whom Democrats “care about most.”
The liberal Democrat made the comments during a discussion with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, who noted that, unlike in the past, the Democrats didn’t push for a “path the citizenship” during negotiations with Republicans over the Ukraine/U.S. border supplemental funding bill.
“Well, I mean, Chris, that’s been a failed play for 20 years. So you are right that that has been the Democratic strategy for 30 years, maybe, and it has failed to deliver for the people we care about most, the undocumented Americans that are in this country,” Murphy said.
Despite admitting that the Democratic Party cares more about illegal aliens than U.S. citizens, Murphy admitted that behaving accordingly is no longer politically viable in the current climate.
“This is also not 2013 any longer when we ran that play last. Back then, there were a couple hundred people showing up every day applying for asylum. Today, on some days, there are 8,000. And the reality is that the bulk of this country does not think that’s right or sustainable and wants us to change the reality at the border,” Murphy said.
Due to the Biden regime’s mismanagement, the crisis at the southern border has become so dire that a majority of Americans believe what is happening there constitutes an invasion. Illegal border crossings have surged since Biden took office. Just this week, it was revealed that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has logged one million encounters since October 1, the start of the 2024 fiscal year.
