Rapper 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, said he believes former President Donald Trump will retake the White House in November. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the rapper said, “I think Trumps gonna be president again, but I’m not gonna say that.” The post also contained a video of Trump dubbed with a false impersonation of his voice discussing the ongoing criminal investigation of music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
In February, after New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced a $53 million program to provide pre-paid debit cards to illegal immigrants arriving in the city, Jackson posted in response on Instagram, “I’m stuck maybe TRUMP is the answer.” The plan, known as the “Immediate Response Cards,” could potentially offer a family of four up to $1,000 monthly, depending on their income level. Jackson vocally objected to the use of taxpayer funds for this initiative.
The praise from Jackson is just the latest in a line of rap and hip-hop stars who’ve warmed to the former Republican President. Concerns over illegal immigration, crime, and the economy have led some to openly back Trump in 2024. Likewise, President Joe Biden has seen a significant decline in support among Black Americans and other minority voters — many of whom are angered by his handling of inflation and the U.S. border crisis.
Jackson, born in the Queens, New York neighborhood of South Jamaica, is known for his criticism of authority — as reflected in much of his music. Before he could release his debut album, Power of the Dollar, in 2000, he was shot nine times, leading Columbia Records to drop him from the label. Rebounding, he released Get Rich or Die Tryin’ in 2003 to critical acclaim.
