Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH), chairman of the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of Government (Weaponziation Committee), is demanding that Manthann District Attorney Alvin Bragg and Senior Counsel to the District Attorney Matthew Colangelo appear before Congress on June 13. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Weaponization Committee said the two Democrat attorneys are being asked to “testify about the unprecedented political prosecution of President Trump.”
The committee announcement comes on the heels of a New York jury finding former President Donald J. Trump guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records in the Manhattan-based hush money trial brought by Bragg. Democrat-aligned Judge Juan Merchan presided over the case and appeared to purposefully bias the jury in favor of the Manhattan DA and his prosecutors.
In addition to Bragg, Chairman Jordan has requested that Matthew Colangelo — who served as a senior official in the Biden Department of Justice (DOJ) prior to joining Bragg’s office — testify as well. The National Pulse has reported extensively on Colangelo and his nearly two-decade history of lawfare against conservative organizations and Republican lawmakers. Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill suspect Colangelo of being a go-between used by the Biden government to coordinate with Alvin Bragg’s prosecution of Trump.
The committee is also set to hear from former Federal Election Commissioner Bradley Smith. Democrat-aligned Judge Juan Merchan essentially barred Smith from testifying in the hush money trial. Smith was set to testify that the payments made to disgraced lawyer Michael Cohen were not in violation of federal campaign finance law. The charges brought by Bragg were predicated on an alleged federal campaign finance violation for which Trump was never changed nor convicted.
