Gavin Newsom Relatives Hosting Big Money Fundraiser for Trump.

Relatives of far-left California Governor Gavin Newsom are hosting a major fundraiser for Donald Trump in the Bay Area on September 13. Tom Siebel, a relative of Newsom’s wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, will host the event. Tickets are going for up to $500,000 per couple.

Tom Siebel is not the first Newsom family connection to the political right. Newsom’s father-in-law, Ken Siebel, registered as a Republican in Florida, and a trust connected to the Siebel family donated $5,000 to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in 2022.

However, when DeSantis suggested the Siebels had fled the Golden State for the Sunshine State to escape Newsom’s policies during a debate, Ken Siebel dismissed the Florida Governor as a “slimeball.”

California has not voted for a Republican presidential candidate since 1988, and Joe Biden won with over 60 percent of the vote in 2020. Nevertheless, the Republican minority is significant in purely numerical terms, with more people voting for Trump in California than in Texas, and the state plays a substantial role in GOP fundraising. Alongside the Siebel fundraiser, former President Trump is attending another event at a currently undisclosed Los Angeles location on September 12, with tickets going for up to $250,000. On Sunday, Trump’s running mate, Senator J.D. Vance, sold out a Los Angeles fundraiser alongside former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

NOT ALONE. 

Newsom is not the only high-profile Democrat whose relatives prefer Trump to Kamala Harris. Jeff Walz, older brother of Democratic vice presidential hopeful Tim Walz, says he is “100 percent opposed to all his [brother’s] ideology.”

“The stories I could tell. Not the type of character you want making decisions about your future,” Jeff Walz added.

Eight members of the Walz family in the Minnesota Democrat’s native Nebraska subsequently posed in ‘Nebraska Walz’s for Trump’ T-shirts.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation reported that the plane issued a “Mayday” emergency signal before communication ceased. Heavy black smoke rose from the crash site just outside the airport perimeter. Emergency teams were swiftly deployed to the scene, though the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

According to unnamed sources cited by Reuters, the passenger manifest included 53 British nationals, 169 Indian nationals, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian.

Following the incident, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) announced the suspension of all flight operations. “As a result of the Air India plane crash incident, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA), Ahmedabad, is currently not operational. All flight operations are temporarily suspended until further notice,” the airport stated, advising passengers to check with airlines for updates.

London Gatwick airport, the flight’s intended destination, confirmed the aircraft was scheduled to arrive at 6:25 PM local time. A statement on the social media platform X indicated that further information would be provided as details emerge.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) arrested 197 individuals Tuesday night after declaring an unlawful assembly in downtown Los Angeles, following days of escalating disorderly protests and rioting. The arrests occurred after multiple dispersal orders were issued, which many demonstrators ignored, according to the LAPD.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D) announced a curfew covering a one-square-mile area of downtown Los Angeles, effective from 8 PM to 6 AM. Exceptions include residents, those traveling to or from work, and credentialed members of the press. The curfew is expected to remain in place for several days.

Bass attributed the unrest to “bad actors who are taking advantage of the President’s chaotic escalation,” in a statement posted on X. California Democrats regard President Donald J. Trump’s attempts to enforce federal immigration law against illegal aliens in the state as provocative.

Bass urged non-residents to avoid the area and warned that violators of the curfew would face arrest and prosecution. Bass also highlighted concerns over the city’s readiness for the World Cup, citing extensive graffiti and damage to businesses.

LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell confirmed that 130 arrests were made near Commercial Street and Alameda, with an additional 67 arrests after demonstrators blocked the 101 Freeway. Charges ranged from failure to disperse and looting to an attempted murder involving a Molotov cocktail.

“Let me be clear that this behavior of blocking freeways, city streets, and on-ramps, refusing to comply with lawful dispersal orders, and interfering with public safety operations is dangerous… and won’t be tolerated,” McDonnell stated.

The protests and riots have resulted in widespread property damage, including the destruction of 23 businesses and the torching of multiple vehicles. In response, President Trump has deployed approximately 2,100 California National Guard troops to Los Angeles, Paramount, and Compton. The America First leader has also ordered 700 U.S. Marines to help the National Guard protect federal property and personnel.

One of Mexico’s top political leaders has alluded to his country retaking territories ceded to the United States over 175 years ago while making remarks condemning President Donald J. Trump‘s efforts to remove dangerous and criminal illegal immigrants from the United States. Gerardo Fernández Noroña, the president of Mexico’s Senate, during a press conference on Monday, insisted that illegal Mexican immigrants residing in the southwestern United States have an ancestral right to be there. 

“Names don’t lie. The most spoken language in Los Angeles is Spanish,” Fernández Noroña, an avowed socialist, said. He continued: “The United States government has the right to implement whatever immigration measures it deems appropriate, certainly, but they have no right to violate the dignity of immigrants. They have no right to separate families.”

During the press event, Fernández Noroña—a close political ally of Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum—produced a map of the North American continent with the borders of the United States and Mexico redrawn to reflect the two countries’ territories at their extent in 1830. “We’ll build the wall and pay for it. But we’ll do it according to the 1830 map of Mexico,” the Mexican Senate leader said, recalling a 2017 conversation he allegedly had with President Trump.

“Mexicans were settled in these territories before the U.S. The Mexicans living there are in what has always been their homeland.”

The comments appear to allude to the wistful goal of some Mexican political figures to engage in a ‘Reconquista’ of their lost territories. Following the Mexican-American War’s conclusion in 1848, the United States annexed a large portion of what is today the southwestern U.S. and California.

Despite Mexico’s assertion that the land was taken from them, it was Mexican caudillo Antonio López de Santa Anna who started the conflict after violating the Treaties of Velasco and attacking American troops along the Rio Grande.
