Xi: Nothing Will Stop Us Taking Taiwan.

China’s President Xi Jinping rang in the New Year by pledging that nothing would stop the communist state’s takeover of Taiwan. During his televised New Year’s speech, the autocratic leader of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) defiantly declared that no other nation could prevent China from annexing the breakaway island, which has maintained its independence since 1949, without ever being controlled by the People’s Republic of China.

Meanwhile, Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te, in his New Year’s address, underscored Taiwan’s role as a critical component of the global “defense of democracy.” Lai reiterated Taiwan’s willingness to engage in dialogue with Beijing but did not back down on strengthening Taiwanese military capabilities. According to Taiwan’s defense ministry, the new year commenced with Chinese warplanes and ships conducting a “combat patrol” around Taiwan. Such maneuvers, which involve air and maritime deployments near Taiwan, have become a frequent occurrence.

President Xi has routinely threatened Taiwan’s sovereignty to stoke national unity in mainland China. In December 2023, ahead of Taiwan’s elections, Xi stated that China would take the island “by any means.” A month later, pro-CCP candidates were soundly defeated at the polls by Tawainese leaders backing continued independence from the mainland. While the entrenchment of anti-CCP leaders has blocked any diplomatic path to reunification, it may push Xi and the CCP towards more open conflict regarding integrating Taiwan.

The National Pulse reported in March that U.S. Admiral John Aquilino, head of the Indo-Pacific Command, testified before Congress that China is increasing its nuclear and military capabilities in preparation for a potential invasion of Taiwan by 2027. Aquilino noted that China also possesses advanced modern systems, enabling it to exert significant control in the Pacific.

UK Conservative Party Faces Dismal Conference Turnout as Members Demand Pact With Farage.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Attendance at the annual Conservative (Tory) Party conference in Britain is embarrassingly low, as evidenced by photos of the main hall.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Conservative Party members, party leader Kemi Badenoch, Shadow Chancellor Mel Stride, and Nigel Farage and his Reform Party.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The Conservative Party conference, October 6, in Manchester, England.

💬KEY QUOTE: “More people have joined Reform in the past 24 hours than were in the room for Kemi’s conference speech.” – Nigel Farage

🎯IMPACT: The low turnout highlights the Conservative Party’s rapid collapse after 14 years in government from 2010 to mid-2024, with Farage’s party set to supplant them on the British right.

IN FULL

The Conservative (Tory) Party’s annual conference in Manchester, England, is seeing strikingly low attendance. This is the first party conference since the Nigeria-raised Olukemi “Kemi” Badenoch assumed leadership in November 2024.

The Tories governed Britain from 2010 to mid-2024, securing the party’s biggest parliamentary mandate since Margaret Thatcher under Boris Johnson in 2019. However, a series of scandals, the mishandling of the coronavirus pandemic, and especially the unprecedented “Boriswave” of mass migration the party unleashed on the country from 2021 onwards saw it suffer a crushing loss in the 2024 general election, despite the now-governing Labour Party earning fewer votes than it did in the previous election. The Tories are now polling at a mere 16 percent nationally.

Sky News’ Amanda Akass highlighted the sparse crowd during Shadow Chancellor Mel Stride’s speech, sharing a photo of the nearly empty room. GB News called it the “quietest” Tory conference in nine years.

For The Telegraph, formerly so strongly aligned with the Conservatives that it was nicknamed ‘The Torygraph,’ acting comment editor Poppy Coburn said, “Having gone to [the] 2023 Conservative Conference in Manchester, this year feels utterly depressing. You can really feel the membership exodus.”

Matthew Torbitt, a homelessness campaigner who had been due to speak at a fringe event at the conference, noted on X (formerly Twitter), “To give you an understanding of how quiet the Conservative conference is, the fringe I was due to be speaking at on Wednesday has been cancelled. The footfall is so low it’s been decided it would be largely pointless.”

Reform Party leader Nigel Farage quipped that “More people have joined Reform in the past 24 hours than were in the room for Kemi’s conference speech.” Notably, recent polls indicate the Conservatives would win just 45 parliamentary seats out of 650 in a hypothetical election, with two-thirds of party members wanting an electoral pact with Farage.

Desperate Dem Jeffries Demands Speaker Johnson Debate Him on House Floor.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) dismissed an outlandish demand by Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) for a primetime debate on the House floor over the Senate Democrats’ government shutdown.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Speaker Mike Johnson, Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).

📍WHEN & WHERE: The debate request was made on Monday morning amidst the ongoing government shutdown, caused by the Democrat minority in the Senate blocking spending legislation.

💬KEY QUOTE: “The House has done its job. I’m not going to let Hakeem try to pretend for theatrics.” – Mike Johnson

🎯IMPACT: The government shutdown continues as negotiations stall, with Democrats pushing for significant changes to President Donald J. Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” including money for illegal immigrant healthcare and an early extension of Obamacare subsidies.

IN FULL

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) declined a challenge to a prime-time House floor debate against Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) over the Senate Democrats’ ongoing government shutdown. Jeffries wrote to Johnson on Monday morning, challenging him to a debate on the House floor “any day this week,” to be broadcast live “to the American people.”

Johnson called the demand a “publicity stunt,” stating, “When the poll says that about 13 percent of the people approve of your messaging, then you make desperate pleas for attention, and that’s what Hakeem Jeffries has done.” He added that the House had already debated and passed its bill in a bipartisan manner before sending it to the Senate.

The short-term federal funding bill, aimed at keeping the government running through November 21, passed the House largely along party lines—with some Democrats joining the Republican majority—but has since stalled in the Senate. Johnson noted, “The ball is in the Senate’s court now,” and criticized Jeffries’ call for a debate as theatrical.

“The House has done its job. I’m not going to let Hakeem try to pretend for theatrics,” Speaker Johnson said. Notably, polling consistently shows voters oppose the Democratic Party’s shutdown of the federal government.

Jeffries, in his letter to Johnson, accused Republicans of shutting down the government over healthcare issues and failing to engage in bipartisan negotiations. Senate Democrats have rejected the GOP-led funding plan four times, with Democrats pushing for an extension of enhanced Obamacare subsidies set to expire by the end of 2025. In addition, Senate Democrats are demanding the repeal of a number of provisions enacted under President Donald J. Trump‘s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” including the barring of money to fund illegal immigrant healthcare.

Chicago Mayor Establishes ‘ICE-Free Zones’ Across His Crime-Ridden City.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson announced an executive order creating “ICE-free zones” in the city.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Mayor Brandon Johnson, the Trump administration, and the White House.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Monday, in Chicago, Illinois.

💬KEY QUOTE: “The order establishes ICE-free zones. That means that city property and unwilling private businesses will no longer serve as staging grounds for these raids.” – Mayor Brandon Johnson

🎯IMPACT: The executive order directly challenges federal immigration enforcement efforts and has drawn sharp criticism from the White House.

IN FULL

On Monday, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) issued an executive order establishing “ICE-free zones” in the city, amid heightened federal efforts to curb illegal immigration. Johnson declared, “Today, we are signing an executive order aimed at reining in this out-of-control administration. The order establishes ICE-free zones. That means that city property and unwilling private businesses will no longer serve as staging grounds for these raids.”

The move will raise concerns about Johnson’s priorities, with his crime-ridden city having seen at least 30 people shot, five of them fatally, over the weekend.

As a sanctuary city, Chicago has been a key target of the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement actions. The White House sharply criticized Johnson’s move to establish “ICE-free zones,” stating: “This is SICK. He is aiding and abetting criminal illegal immigrant killers, rapists, traffickers, and gang bangers.”

The Trump administration is currently moving to deploy National Guard forces from out of state to assist federal immigration enforcement personnel operating in Chicago, to the chagrin of Democrat state governor J.B. Pritzker, who signed a bill extending financial aid to illegal immigrants in August.

Chinese Vessels Pushed Out of Contested Waters.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Taiwan expelled three Chinese Coast Guard vessels from waters near the contested Pratas Island in the South China Sea.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Taiwan Coast Guard Administration and Chinese Coast Guard vessels.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Near Pratas Island, South China Sea; incidents occurred on September 30 and October 3, 2023.

💬KEY QUOTE: “The Coast Guard Administration will continue to dispatch vessels to patrol and defend the Dongsha area, firmly safeguarding our national sovereignty.” – Taiwan Coast Guard Administration

🎯IMPACT: Tensions between Taiwan and China remain high as maritime forces continue to clash over disputed waters.

IN FULL

Taiwan says it repelled three Chinese Coast Guard ships from waters near the disputed Pratas Island in the South China Sea. The incidents took place on September 30 and October 3, 2023, amid ongoing territorial disputes fueling tensions between the two sides.

Pratas Island, known as Dongsha Island to both Taipei and Beijing, is managed by Taiwan as a marine national park and hosts a small marine garrison. Though Taiwan operates as a self-governing state, China claims the island as its own and has threatened to take control, possibly by force.

Taiwan’s Coast Guard Administration reports that on September 30, two Chinese Coast Guard vessels entered restricted waters near Pratas Island at 8:22 AM. The Taiwanese cutter Tainan issued warnings, and the ships left by around 6 PM. On October 3, another Chinese vessel entered the restricted zone, prompting the cutter Taipei to intervene and escort it out. The ship departed around 12:02 AM.

Since January, Taiwan’s Coast Guard has expelled 159 Chinese fishing boats and seized twelve smaller vessels near Dongsha. The Coast Guard stated: “Recently, Chinese coast guard ships have repeatedly intruded into the waters around our Dongsha Islands. The Coast Guard Administration will continue to dispatch vessels to patrol and defend the Dongsha area, firmly safeguarding our national sovereignty.”

China has not commented on these incidents. The maritime clashes underscore the broader Taiwan-China conflict, particularly as Beijing deploys forces into contested waters to assert its territorial claims.

Supreme Court Rejects Ghislaine Maxwell’s Appeal in Epstein Sex Trafficking Case.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The Supreme Court declined to hear Ghislaine Maxwell’s appeal in her sex trafficking case, effectively upholding her 2021 conviction.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Ghislaine Maxwell, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The Supreme Court’s decision was announced on Monday. Maxwell is currently serving her sentence in a federal facility in Bryan, Texas.

🎯IMPACT: Maxwell’s conviction remains intact, and her 20-year prison sentence continues without further legal recourse.

IN FULL

The United States Supreme Court will not take up Ghislaine Maxwell’s appeal seeking to overturn her 2021 conviction on sex trafficking charges. This decision leaves in place the ruling of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit, which had previously rejected her appeal.

One of the closest associates of Jeffrey Epstein, the 63-year-old Maxwell, was sentenced in 2022 to 240 months in prison for her role in a scheme to sexually exploit and abuse multiple minor girls with the now-deceased pedophile financier over the course of a decade.

Attorneys for Maxwell argued her conviction should be overturned, claiming Epstein’s 2007 plea deal with the federal government effectively granted her immunity. Additionally, her legal team argued that the statute of limitations had expired for the crimes for which she was prosecuted. Lower courts rejected both claims.

Maxwell, who was initially serving her sentence in a federal prison in Tallahassee, Florida, was recently transferred to a minimum-security all-women facility in Bryan, Texas. This move came shortly after a meeting with Department of Justice (DOJ) Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, though the DOJ has denied providing her with any special treatment.

Judge’s $1.5M Mansion Mysteriously Explodes.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A $1.5 million home belonging to South Carolina Circuit Court Judge Diane Goodstein exploded, with local law enforcement working to determine if the blast was the result of an accident or arson.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Judge Diane Goodstein, her husband Arnie, her son Arnold Goodstein II, and other family members.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Saturday morning, October 4, 2025, at the judge’s beachfront property in Edisto Beach, South Carolina.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Judge Goodstein was walking on the beach when the fire started. Her husband, Arnie, was in the house with children and perhaps grandchildren.” – South Carolina Chief Justice John Kittredge.

🎯IMPACT: Multiple family members were hospitalized, and authorities are investigating to determine the cause of the explosion and subsequent fire.

IN FULL

An explosion and subsequent fire destroyed the $1.5 million Edisto Beach home of South Carolina Circuit Court Judge Diane Goodstein on Saturday morning. The explosion occurred just weeks after Judge Goodstein issued a ruling against the Trump administration, blocking the state from handing over voter registration data to the federal government.

Judge Goodstein was walking on the beach at the time of the explosion. Her husband, Arnie, and other family members were inside the home and had to escape by jumping from windows or balconies. Arnie Goodstein sustained serious injuries, including multiple broken bones, and was airlifted to a hospital. The condition of her son, Arnold Goodstein II, remains unclear.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating the cause of the fire, which began around 11:30 AM on Saturday. Chief Justice John Kittredge confirmed that local law enforcement has been alerted to provide additional patrols and security for the judge and her family.

While the corporate media and Democrat voices have been quick to tie the explosion to the judge’s fight with the Trump White House and South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster (R), law enforcement has stressed that the fire’s cause remains under investigation. Notably, Arnie Goodstein—a former state senator and builder—controversially discharged $61 million in debt through bankrupcy in 2011, leaving creditors, contractors, and other vendors on the hook.

Foreign Agent Filing Reveals Israel-Backed Plan to Geofence Churches, Track and Target Phones of Christians.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Federal government Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) filings reveal a group called Show Faith by Works, LLC, with the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs serving as the principal, is planning to launch an influence campaign targeting Christian churches and organizations in the Western United States with digital ads and a “mobile museum.”

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Show Faith by Works, LLC, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Christian churches and universities in the United States.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Filing was made on September 27, 2025.

💬KEY QUOTE: “We will target and distribute pro-Israel information online and through targeted geofencing and digital online tools,” the FARA filing reads, continuing: “We will have teams of people reaching out to churches and Pastors and possibly even Christian social media influencers. Some of this is still undecided and fluid, but these are the outlets we have planned and proposed.”

🎯IMPACT: While Show Faith by Works, LLC’s filing suggests its primary goal is tourism promotion, it is telling that some or all of the budget comes from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and not the Ministry of Tourism—indicating the ad campaign serves to influence politics more than anything else.

IN FULL

Federal government Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) filings reveal a group called Show Faith by Works, LLC, with the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs serving as the principal, is planning to launch an influence campaign targeting Christian churches and organizations in the Western United States with digital ads and a “mobile museum.”

“We will target and distribute pro-Israel information online and through targeted geofencing and digital online tools,” the FARA filing reads, continuing: “We will have teams of people reaching out to churches and Pastors and possibly even Christian social media influencers. Some of this is still undecided and fluid, but these are the outlets we have planned and proposed.”

In addition, Show Faith by Works, LLC states its influence campaign’s goal is to “[encourage] Christians to have a more favorable view of the Nation of Israel, and to encourage Christians to visit Israel for tourism purposes.”

One of the primary methods the group says it will employ in its campaign is geofenced digital ads, meaning the online advertisements will be limited to specific geographic locations, even individual buildings. Geofencing is a common practice in the digital advertising space to ensure a specific audience or consumer base is reached.

In the case of Show Faith by Works, LLC, it appears they intend to geofence their ad campaign to specific, predetermined churches and Christian universities. It is unclear if ad recipients will continue to receive the digital messages outside of the geofenced area, though that is often an option employed by advertisers to keep their ads in front of their desired audience.

Specifically, the filing states they will “Geofence the actual boundaries of every Major church in California, Arizona, Nevada and Coloardo and all Christian Colleges during worship times,” and “Track attendees and continue to target with ads.”

Show Faith by Works, LLC FARA filing.

While not entirely foolproof, the identity of an ad’s recipient is anonymized, meaning neither Show Faith by Works, LLC nor the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs should know the real identities of those viewing their ads.

The FARA filings reveal an expansive campaign, with a total budget of nearly $1 million, with just under $700,000 earmarked for the ads themselves. While much of the campaign appears focused on tourism promotion to Christian pastors, the filing’s links to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, rather than the Ministry of Tourism, do indicate that political influence on behalf of the Israeli government is at least a secondary goal.

Notably, Show Faith by Works, LLC’s filing reveals that at least some portion of the campaign budget is directly financed by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Any organization seeking to influence U.S. politics using funding from a foreign government must legally register under FARA.

Amazon Quietly Backs Down After Backlash Over Gunless James Bond Posters.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Amazon Prime Video removed doctored James Bond promotional material after backlash over its removal of guns from posters.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Amazon Prime Video, James Bond fans.

📍WHEN & WHERE: October 2025, on the Prime Video UK website.

💬KEY QUOTE: “They photoshopped all the guns out of the James Bond movie thumbnails. Just in case you still had hope for Amazon being in charge of the franchise.” – author John A. Douglas.

🎯IMPACT: Concerns are growing about the future portrayal of James Bond under Amazon’s ownership.

IN FULL

Amazon Prime Video has been heavily criticized for altering its James Bond artwork to remove the iconic secret agent’s pistol from digital movie posters. The move sparked intense fan pushback, which resulted in the doctored posters being quietly removed.

The artwork, displayed on the Prime Video UK website, featured digitally disarmed images of Bond. In classic films like Dr. No and Goldeneye, Bond’s iconic Walther PPK pistol was edited out, and in A View to a Kill, Roger Moore’s arms were awkwardly lengthened to exclude the firearm.

Social media users criticized the move. “They photoshopped all the guns out of the James Bond movie thumbnails. Just in case you still had hope for Amazon being in charge of the franchise,” said author John A. Douglas.

In response to the growing backlash, Prime Video UK quietly removed the altered images, replacing them with stills from the films. Notably, these stills also do not feature Bond carrying a gun, and Prime Video has declined to comment on the controversy.

The incident has stirred concerns among fans about the future portrayal of James Bond, especially with a new film in the works under director Denis Villeneuve.

The move to censor Bond is just part of a broader woke trend seen at Amazon in recent years. Last year, the tech giant broadcast a “Queer fantasy” show about England’s King Edward VI, portraying him as black, gay, and disabled. Despite positive reviews from politically partisan critics, the show was cancelled after a single season due to a lack of audience interest.

Violent Crime Surged in This Dem City Last Weekend, With Over 30 Shot.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: At least 30 people were shot, five of them fatally, over the weekend in Chicago, Illinois.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Victims of gun violence in Chicago, with Mayor Brandon Johnson (D) overseeing the city.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Over the weekend in Chicago, including a fatal shooting early Monday morning.

🎯IMPACT: The violence highlights ongoing concerns about crime and the effectiveness of law enforcement in Chicago and Illinois.

IN FULL

Over 30 people were shot, five of them fatally, this past weekend in Chicago, Illinois, marking a deadly surge in violent crime under far-left Mayor Brandon Johnson (D). Police reports indicate that at least 13 people were shot between Friday and Saturday night alone, with four of those victims succumbing to their injuries.

By Monday morning, the number of gun crime victims had risen to 30, with a fifth fatality occurring early Monday around 3 AM in the 3900 block of South Archer Avenue. The victim, a 33-year-old man, was shot twice following an argument and later died at a hospital.

Chicago, like the rest of Democrat-governed Illinois, has strict gun control measures. These include bans on “assault weapons” and “high capacity” magazines, a red flag law, a 72-hour waiting period on gun purchases, and a Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card requirement. Additionally, Cook County, where Chicago is located, has its own restrictions, including bans on “assault weapons” and “high-capacity” magazines.

President Donald J. Trump has repeatedly offered and pushed for the deployment of National Guard and other federal law enforcement resources to the Democrat-controlled city in the midst of surging violent crime. However, Mayor Johnson and Governor J.B. Pritzker (D-IL) are resisting federal assistance on partisan grounds.

Meanwhile, in nearby Broad View, a suburb of Chicago, far-left rioters have laid siege to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility being used as part of a federal immigration enforcement action dubbed the “Midway Blitz.” The National Pulse reported late last month that ICE and Border Patrol agents have made numerous arrests since the operation began on September 8, including the seizure of firearms.

This State Wants You to Hand Over Control of Your Thermostat.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A bill allowing utility firms to adjust customers’ thermostats during peak demand times is under consideration in Ohio.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Republican state Rep. Roy Klopfenstein introduced the bill, with backing from environmental groups.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The bill was introduced in late August and referred to the Ohio House Energy Committee last month.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Demand response programs have proven to be a vital tool for our large commercial users,” said Rep. Klopfenstein.

🎯IMPACT: The bill aims to improve grid reliability and reduce costs, with potential savings of up to $104 million.

IN FULL

Ohio’s House Bill 427, introduced by Republican State Rep. Roy Klopfenstein, aims to overhaul energy regulations by allowing utility firms to adjust customers’ energy use, such as turning down their thermostats during peak times. For now, the scheme is intended to be voluntary, with payments offered to customers who sign up—but skeptics fear it could pave the way for compulsory remote control of people’s energy use in the service of green agenda policies.

“This legislation is a crucial step in our state’s comprehensive plan to ensure all Ohioans have access to reliable, affordable, and readily available energy,” insists state Representative Roy Klopfenstein, the Republican lawmaker who introduced the bill.

Environmental groups, like the Ohio Environmental Council, back the bill, citing potential savings and grid improvements. The council’s managing director for energy policy, Nolan Rutschilling, claims, “This legislation allows utilities and retail energy providers to establish programs that save customers money.” However, such promises of savings fail to fully address concerns about handing over control, voluntary or not, of householders’ energy use, especially if an opt-in pilot lays the groundwork for a compulsory program.

If passed, the program could launch within two years, with a review by the state’s public utility commission after three. Democrat-governed Arizona and Connecticut are already looking to test similar demand-response programs.
