President Trump to Free Hundreds of Jan 6 Defendants.

President Donald J. Trump is expected to issue pardons and commute sentences for hundreds of people persecuted by the former Biden-Harris regime following the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021, freeing many from prison. It is believed that President Trump will issue pardons for all supporters prosecuted for nonviolent offenses and commute the sentences of those already convicted. Additionally, Trump is expected to direct the Attorney General to vacate pending indictments against January 6 defendants—concluding around 470 ongoing Department of Justice (DOJ) cases.

Over 730 people have been convicted of offenses related to the Capitol riots, and hundreds of others still face pending prosecutions. The executive order expected to be signed by President Trump later today will likely impact the entirety of the DOJ cases. This will end the massive policing operation against Trump supporters that was headed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), which saw over 1,580 people charged by federal prosecutors.

Many of those prosecuted were simply supporters who did not engage in violence and claimed they had no intentions of disrupting the certification of the 2020 election. Some were even guided into the Capitol by police.

President Trump had previously said he would consider pardons for the January 6 prisoners and recognized the death of Ashli Babbitt, who was shot and killed by Capitol Police officer Michael L. Byrd.

Questions remain regarding the activities of federal informants present on January 6. The FBI admitted last month that at least 26 informants were at the Capitol that day. Three of the informants were reportedly there to monitor domestic terrorism subjects.

Some have alleged that federal government agents may have either participated in or helped incite the riot that took place, but the FBI has consistently denied the claims. The biased Democrat-controlled January 6 Committee has also come under scrutiny, but during his final day in office, former President Joe Biden pardoned its members.

DOJ Releases Another 30,000 Epstein Documents.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The Department of Justice (DOJ) released nearly 30,000 additional pages of documents related to deceased child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, including claims against President Donald J. Trump deemed “untrue and sensationalist” by the department.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Jeffrey Epstein, accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, President Trump, the DOJ, and unnamed individuals referenced in the documents.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Documents released on Tuesday follow a prior release on Friday; claims date back to the 1990s and were submitted before the 2020 election.

💬KEY QUOTE: “The Department of Justice has officially released nearly 30,000 more pages of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. Some of these documents contain untrue and sensationalist claims made against President Trump that were submitted to the FBI right before the 2020 election.” – DOJ statement.

🎯IMPACT: One item in the release is an email from a prosecutor in the federal government claiming Trump appeared on passenger manifests for Epstein’s jet on multiple occasions from 1993 to 1996, with Ghislaine Maxwell present on some flights, which interested parties will likely seek to corroborate.

IN FULL

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has made public nearly 30,000 more pages of materials connected to the late convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, building on a previous disclosure of extensive records. This latest batch includes various items such as press articles, correspondence, and legal documents. Among them are pre-2020 election allegations submitted to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) involving President Donald J. Trump, which the DOJ characterizes as “untrue and sensationalist.”

“The Department of Justice has officially released nearly 30,000 more pages of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. Some of these documents contain untrue and sensationalist claims made against President Trump that were submitted to the FBI right before the 2020 election,” the DOJ announced on Tuesday. “To be clear: the claims are unfounded and false, and if they had a shred of credibility, they certainly would have been weaponized against President Trump already,” the department argued.

One item in the release is an email from a prosecutor in the federal government claiming Trump appeared on passenger manifests for Epstein’s jet on multiple occasions from 1993 to 1996, with Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell present on some flights. Another document references a limousine driver from Dallas, Texas, who reportedly heard Trump “continuously stat[ing] the name ‘Jeffrey’ while on the phone, and ma[king] references to abusing some girl” during a telephone call. The DOJ says these claims are unsubstantiated.

President Trump has rejected any accusations of wrongdoing, calling them a politically driven “hoax” with no proof. He noted his earlier decision to bar Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, and argued the files form part of an attempt to divert attention from the work of his administration. On his Truth Social platform, the President posted: “Nobody cared about Jeffrey Epstein when he was alive and, if the Democrats had anything, they would have released it before our Landslide Election Victory.”

Muslims Convicted in ISIS-Inspired Plot to Massacre Jews.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: Two men were convicted of plotting an Islamic State-inspired mass shooting targeting the Jewish community in Manchester, England.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Walid Saadaoui, Amar Hussein, undercover operative Farouk, and Greater Manchester Police.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Manchester, between December 2023 and May 2024, with arrests on May 8, 2024. The pair were convicted in December 2025.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Some of the things he said made it very clear that he regarded a less sophisticated attack… as not being good enough, as he saw it was his duty to kill as many Jewish people as he could.” – Assistant Chief Constable Robert Potts

🎯IMPACT: The plot was foiled, preventing what police described as a potentially catastrophic attack.

IN FULL

Two men in Britain have been convicted of preparing acts of terrorism after plotting an Islamic State-inspired mass shooting targeting Manchester’s Jewish community, a court heard. Walid Saadaoui, 38, and Amar Hussein, 52, were found guilty after prosecutors said they were motivated by a “visceral dislike” of Jewish people and intended to cause mass casualties.

Saadaoui, a Tunisian national, sought to smuggle four AK-47 rifles, two handguns, and 900 rounds of ammunition into the United Kingdom. He believed he was working with a fellow extremist to arrange the importation, but the contact was in fact an undercover operative known as Farouk. Saadaoui paid a deposit for the weapons, unaware that counter-terrorism officers were monitoring his plans.

The plot was stopped on May 8, 2024, when Saadaoui was arrested in Bolton while attempting to collect what he believed were deactivated firearms. More than 200 counter-terrorism officers were involved in the operation to disrupt the plan, which police said could have resulted in one of the deadliest terrorist attacks in British history.

Assistant Chief Constable Robert Potts said Saadaoui’s statements revealed the scale of his intent. “Some of the things he said made it very clear that he regarded a less sophisticated attack… as not being good enough, as he saw it was his duty to kill as many Jewish people as he could,” Potts said. He also commended the undercover officer, adding, “There was very real risk and danger for Farouk, who undoubtedly saved lives.”

The Jewish Community Security Trust said the case would heighten fears within the Jewish community. Its chief executive, Mark Gardner, said, “To hear now that somebody was trying to obtain weapons and had put together a meticulous attack plan to go and kill as many Jews as possible… will make people very, very fearful.”

The convictions come amid heightened concern following the attack on a Manchester synagogue earlier this year, when an Islamic State-inspired Syrian migrant carried out a violent attack during a religious observance. Investigations later found the attacker had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State and was on bail for rape at the time of the attack. Subsequent inquiries also led to additional terrorism charges against an associate linked to that case.

African Man Gets Life Sentence for Planning 9/11-Style Attack.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A Kenyan man was sentenced to life in prison for planning a terrorist attack on Atlanta’s Bank of America Plaza in 2019.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Cholo Abdi Abdullah, a member of the Somali-based terrorist group al-Shabaab, and U.S. federal prosecutors.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Sentencing took place Monday; the plot targeted Atlanta, Georgia, and involved actions in Somalia, the Philippines, and the U.S.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Abdullah admitted to FBI agents that he was training to become a pilot on behalf of al-Shabaab so he could hijack a plane.” – U.S. Department of Justice

🎯IMPACT: Abdullah was sentenced to two consecutive life terms for conspiring to commit a 9/11-style attack.

IN FULL

Cholo Abdi Abdullah, a 34-year-old Kenyan man, was sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison on Monday, December 22, 2025, for plotting to hijack a commercial airliner and crash it into Atlanta‘s Bank of America Plaza, according to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). Abdullah, a member of the Somali-based terrorist group al-Shabaab, was convicted on November 4, 2024, for multiple terrorism-related crimes.

Abdullah joined al-Shabaab in 2015 and underwent extensive military-style training in Somalia, including firearms and explosives training. He later enrolled in a flight school in the Philippines between 2017 and 2019, where he trained to become a commercial pilot as part of a larger plan to carry out a mass-casualty terrorist attack on behalf of al-Shabaab. His tuition was financed by the group, which funds its operations—in part—through extortion in Somalia.

Prosecutors revealed that Abdullah researched U.S. transit visas, airplane cockpit security, and the feasibility of smuggling weapons onboard flights. He specifically targeted the 55-story Bank of America Plaza in Atlanta, Georgia, as the site of his planned attack. Abdullah admitted to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents that he expected to die in the attack and acknowledged that others would be killed or injured.

The DOJ detailed that Abdullah was arrested in the Philippines in July 2019, just before completing the final requirements for his commercial pilot license. He was transferred to U.S. custody in December 2020. His conviction included charges such as conspiring to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization and conspiring to commit aircraft piracy, among others.

Concerningly, the recent social services fraud scandal that has gripped Tim Walz’s Minnesota has likely seen the state’s Somali immigrant community funnel possibly over one billion in taxpayer dollars to al-Shabaab. Governor Walz (D) has defiantly pledged to bring more Somali immigrants to his state despite the scandal.

U.S. Economy Expands at Robust 4.3% in Third Quarter.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The U.S. economy surged at an annual growth rate of 4.3 percent in the third quarter, surpassing expectations.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: The Commerce Department released the data, with economists from FactSet providing forecasts.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Data was released on Tuesday, reflecting economic activity in the United States during the third quarter.

🎯IMPACT: The growth reflects an acceleration from the second quarter’s 3.8 percent annualized growth rate, signaling strong economic performance.

IN FULL

The U.S. economy grew at a strong 4.3 percent annual pace during the third quarter, as per new government data released on Tuesday. This figure significantly exceeded the 3.0 percent growth forecasted by economists polled by FactSet, a financial data firm, and is the best quarterly rate of growth in two years.

According to the Commerce Department, the GDP growth—a measure of the nation’s output of goods and services—represents a notable increase from the 3.8 percent annualized growth rate in the second quarter. The acceleration suggests that the U.S. economy remains resilient despite concerns over deflation and a weakening job market.

Consumption was the key driver of growth, with the purchases up 3.5 percent on the quarter. Higher exports and lower imports also contributed to the growth boost.

Meanwhile, another important metric, real final sales to private domestic purchasers, rose at 3.0 percent in the third quarter. While strong, this number does indicate some potential weakening if the trend continues to lag behind overall growth.

Comer Summons Minnesota Officials to Testify in Somali Fraud Investigation.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The House Oversight Committee has expanded its investigation into allegations of widespread fraud in Minnesota’s social services programs, which prosecutors claim could amount to billions of dollars.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY), Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D), Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison (D), federal prosecutors, and several current and former Minnesota state officials.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Letters were sent on December 22 requesting interviews with officials. Investigations are ongoing in Minnesota.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Whistleblowers have made it clear that American taxpayers were defrauded in Minnesota, raising serious questions about whether Governor Walz and Attorney General Ellison failed to act or were complicit in the theft.” – James Comer.

🎯IMPACT: Federal prosecutors have charged individuals with stealing over $240 million, and the investigation has widened to multiple state-run programs, potentially implicating senior officials.

IN FULL

The House Oversight Committee has expanded its investigation into alleged fraud within Minnesota’s social services programs, issuing requests for interviews with current and former state officials and seeking cooperation from federal agencies. Chairman James Comer (R-KY) sent letters to seven Minnesota officials asking them to participate in transcribed interviews scheduled for late January and early February 2026. The committee also contacted Attorney General Pam Bondi and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to request federal assistance with the inquiry.

One of the letters was addressed to Emily Honer, director of Nutrition Program Services at the Minnesota Department of Education. It stated, “The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is investigating reports of widespread fraud in Minnesota’s social services programs. As the Director of Nutrition Program Services and in your previous roles… you have information that will assist the Committee’s investigation.” Honer was asked to appear for an interview on January 26, 2026.

The investigation follows federal prosecutions tied to the Minnesota-based, Somali-run nonprofit Feeding Our Future, where prosecutors allege more than $240 million was stolen from the Federal Child Nutrition Program during the COVID-19 pandemic. Authorities say defendants submitted false meal claims and diverted taxpayer funds to luxury purchases and overseas investments, including real estate in Nairobi, Kenya, and possible transfers to Somalia. Some funds may have passed through regions where the jihadist group Al-Shabaab operates.

As the probe widened, investigators began examining other Minnesota programs, including Medicaid, which has paid out roughly $18 billion since 2018. Federal officials and investigators estimate that a significant portion of those funds may have been obtained fraudulently. Recent court filings and reporting suggest that total losses tied to Minnesota social services fraud, much of it linked to Somali-run networks, could approach $9 billion.

Several Somali background suspects have pleaded guilty in recent months. In one case, a woman admitted to stealing millions through Medicaid and food assistance fraud. Prosecutors have described the schemes as interconnected, with some defendants involved in multiple programs simultaneously.

The scale of the fraud has raised questions about oversight by state leadership, including whether Governor Tim Walz (D) and Attorney General Keith Ellison (D) were aware of the problems earlier. Whistleblowers allege that Walz’s administration quashed early attempts to expose the scandal and threatened them with retaliation.

Walz has admitted responsibility for the situation, stating, “This is on my watch. I am accountable for this. And more importantly, I am the one that will fix it.”

Trump Suspends Offshore Wind Leases, Citing National Security Concerns.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The Department of the Interior (DOI) has paused leases for five offshore wind projects.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: President Donald J. Trump, DOI Secretary Doug Burgum, DOI, and the Department of War.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Announced on December 22, 2025, affecting projects off the East Coast.

💬KEY QUOTE: “ONE natural gas pipeline supplies as much energy as these 5 projects COMBINED.” – Doug Burgum

🎯IMPACT: The decision could kill the offshore wind projects altogether.

IN FULL

The Trump administration has halted the leases for five major offshore wind developments under construction along the East Coast, invoking concerns about national security raised by the Department of War. The Department of the Interior (DOI) made the announcement on Monday, stating the pause takes effect immediately. It applies to Vineyard Wind 1, Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind, Sunrise Wind, Empire Wind, and Revolution Wind.

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum posted on X that the projects are “expensive, unreliable, heavily subsidized,” adding that “ONE natural gas pipeline supplies as much energy as these 5 projects COMBINED.” He noted that President Donald J. Trump “is bringing common sense back to energy policy & putting security FIRST!”

The move stems from issues with radar systems, where rotating turbine blades and reflective structures produce interference known as clutter, potentially masking real targets or creating false ones. A 2024 Department of Energy report indicated that raising radar detection thresholds to filter out clutter might lead to overlooking genuine threats. The New York Times described the decision as a significant intensification of President Trump’s longstanding opposition to offshore wind farms, with the America First leader previously clashing with the Scottish Goverment over turbines despoiling the sea views at his golf course in Aberdeenshire.

The former Biden government had accelerated approvals for wind farm initiatives, even as questions arose regarding impacts on the environment and maritime navigation, as part of its climate change agenda.

Trump DOJ Files Lawsuit Against DC Metro PD for Infringing Second Amendment.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: The Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed a lawsuit against Washington, D.C.’s police department over the district’s ban on several firearms, including the AR-15, citing violations of the Second Amendment.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: The Department of Justice, Washington, D.C.’s police department, and Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon of the Civil Rights Division.

📍WHEN & WHERE: The lawsuit was announced Monday, targeting Washington, D.C.’s firearm restrictions.

💬KEY QUOTE: “This Civil Rights Division will defend American citizens from unconstitutional restrictions of commonly used firearms, in violation of their Second Amendment rights.” – Harmeet K. Dhillon

🎯IMPACT: The case seeks to ensure the enforcement of Second Amendment rights for law-abiding citizens, as established in the landmark Heller decision 17 years ago.

IN FULL

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed a lawsuit against Washington, D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department, arguing that the district’s ban on several firearms, including the AR-15, violates the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The lawsuit targets restrictions that prohibit residents from owning certain semiautomatic rifles and other firearms that the DOJ says are commonly used for lawful purposes. According to the department, these bans conflict with Supreme Court precedent recognizing citizens’ right to keep and bear arms.

Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet K. Dhillon said the case reflects the department’s renewed focus on upholding constitutional rights. “This Civil Rights Division will defend American citizens from unconstitutional restrictions of commonly used firearms, in violation of their Second Amendment rights,” Dhillon stated.

The suit was filed by the DOJ’s newly created Second Amendment Section, which was established to focus specifically on defending gun rights under federal law. The department said the case is intended to uphold the protections recognized in the Supreme Court’s 2008 decision in District of Columbia v. Heller. That ruling struck down D.C.’s handgun ban and affirmed that the Second Amendment protects the right to possess firearms for lawful purposes such as self-defense in the home.

The DOJ argues that, 17 years after the Heller decision, D.C.’s current firearms restrictions undermine the rights secured by that ruling, including those of the original plaintiff, D.C. resident Dick Heller. Dhillon said the case underscores the importance of ensuring that law-abiding citizens can own firearms without unlawful limitations.

The lawsuit comes as debates over the scope of the Second Amendment continue across the country. In recent years, courts and public officials have taken sharply different views on how broadly the amendment should be applied. Leaders like Democratic Minnesota Governor Tim Walz have openly criticized the Second Amendment, arguing for aggressive gun control measures that conflict with Supreme Court precedent.

WATCH: POTUS Unveils Plans for ‘Golden Fleet’ of ‘Trump-Class’ Battleships.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: President Donald Trump announced the creation of a new class of U.S. Navy battleships, starting with the construction of two vessels.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: President Donald Trump, War Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Navy Secretary John Phelan.

📍WHEN & WHERE: Monday afternoon at Mar-a-Lago, Florida.

💬KEY QUOTE: “They will have 100 times the force, the power, and there’s never been anything like these ships.” – Donald Trump

🎯IMPACT: The announcement signals a significant expansion of the U.S. Navy’s capabilities with plans for up to 25 new battleships.

IN FULL

President Donald J. Trump has revealed plans for the U.S. Navy to develop a new line of “Trump-class” battleships, starting with the construction of two vessels. The America First leader shared the news from his Mar-a-Lago resort, where he is vacationing over the holidays, joined by War Secretary Pete Hegseth and Navy Secretary John Phelan.

Trump described the vessels as components of a new “Golden Fleet,” with ambitions to produce up to 25 such battleships. He stated that these would be the “largest we’ve ever built.”

“They will have 100 times the force, the power, and there’s never been anything like these ships,” Trump said. “We envision that these two ships will be the first of a whole new class of battleships that will be produced in the years to come.”

The lead vessel in the class will bear the name USS Defiant. This development follows shortly after the Navy abandoned efforts to develop a different, smaller warship due to escalating expenses and extended timelines.

Illegal Rams ICE Agents in Walz’s Minnesota, Officer Bitten, Shots Fired.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents opened fire after an SUV driven by an illegal alien rammed into them.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Juan Carlos Rodrigues Romero, ICE agents, and officers.

📍WHEN & WHERE: December 21, 2025, in St. Paul, Minnesota.

💬KEY QUOTE: “Romero was noncompliant and refused to roll down his window, causing officers to warn that they would have to break the window if he continued to not comply with lawful orders.” – Department of Homeland Security

🎯IMPACT: Two officers and Romero sustained non-life threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital.

IN FULL

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers engaged in a tense and physical altercation with Juan Carlos Rodrigues Romero, a Cuban illegal immigrant, as they attempted to take him into custody on Sunday. The encounter in St. Paul, Minnesota, started when agents spotted Romero entering a white SUV. Officers initiated a lawful traffic stop, but Romero declined to lower his window. Agents informed him that they would break the glass if he did not follow instructions. Romero then accelerated away, hitting one officer during his escape attempt.

A short pursuit followed, during which Romero entered a parking lot and deliberately collided with an ICE vehicle, injuring a second officer. The struck officer discharged two shots in self-defense, though no one was struck by the gunfire. Romero proceeded to drive toward his apartment building, where he again rammed an ICE vehicle. He then left the SUV and tried to reach his residence on foot. Pursuing officers caught up to him and took him into custody after he resisted forcefully, including biting one agent.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has stated that “Romero was admitted into the United States in 2024 by the Biden Administration through the CBP One app, which released over a million completely unvetted illegal aliens into the interior of the United States.” Under President Donald J. Trump, CBP One has been repurposed as CBP Home, which facilitates migrants willing to self-deport in exchange for $,1000 and free airfare. This has been increased to $3,000 over the Christmas period.

Somali ‘Medicaid Mogul’ Accused of Fraud, Family Allegedly Put Bounty on Reporter.

PULSE POINTS

WHAT HAPPENED: A nonprofit executive in Maine, Abdullahi Ali, is accused of Medicaid fraud, with his family allegedly placing a bounty on a journalist in Somalia who shared reporting on the allegations.

👤WHO WAS INVOLVED: Abdullahi Ali, Gateway Community Services, whistleblower Christopher Bernardini, Governor Janet Mills (D), and Maine state Senator Matt Harrington (R).

📍WHEN & WHERE: Maine, December 2025, with related incidents in Somalia.

💬KEY QUOTE: “You can’t rob a bank for millions of dollars. You shouldn’t be able to rob taxpayers of millions of dollars and get away with it. There absolutely needs to be a criminal investigation into this immediately.” – Matt Harrington

🎯IMPACT: The allegations highlight concerns over the misuse of taxpayer funds in the Somali community, and raise questions about oversight in Maine’s Medicaid and welfare systems.

IN FULL

Abdullahi Ali, executive director of Gateway Community Services in Maine, is facing allegations that his nonprofit defrauded taxpayers through Maine’s Medicaid program and the federal Paycheck Protection Program. Whistleblower Christopher Bernardini has alleged that Gateway submitted false documentation for services that were never delivered, resulting in reimbursements from state and federal funds.

During the period he was overseeing Gateway, Ali was also reportedly campaigning to become president of Jubbaland, a semi-autonomous region in Somalia. Reports say Ali claimed he raised money for the Jubaland Somali army to purchase weapons, drawing scrutiny over potential foreign political and military involvement while managing a U.S.-funded nonprofit.

The controversy intensified after Steve Robinson of The Maine Wire reported that Ali had threatened a journalist in Somalia who had shared reporting on the allegations. Robinson said Ali’s family members, including his son and a cousin, have allegedly placed a bounty on the journalist’s head. Robinson has publicly questioned why Governor Janet Mills (D) continues to direct public funding to Gateway Community Services despite the claims.

Gateway Community Services has denied wrongdoing and characterized the accusations as racist. Bernardini and other former employees have provided detailed accounts alleging systematic fraud within the organization. Maine Republican state Senator Matt Harrington has called for immediate criminal investigations, saying the alleged misuse of taxpayer money highlights serious failures in oversight and accountability.

“You can’t rob a bank for millions of dollars. You shouldn’t be able to rob taxpayers of millions of dollars and get away with it. There absolutely needs to be a criminal investigation into this immediately,” Harrington stated.

The Maine case has been compared to major Medicaid and welfare fraud prosecutions in Minnesota, where federal authorities have charged suspects tied to nonprofit and social services networks with submitting fraudulent claims for services that were never provided. In one recent Minnesota case, a Somali-linked defendant pleaded guilty to stealing millions of dollars from Medicaid and food assistance programs. Federal prosecutors have said those schemes were part of a broader network “that has stolen billions of dollars in taxpayer money.”

Federal estimates suggest that Somali-linked welfare fraud in Minnesota could reach as high as $9 billion, spanning programs related to food aid, housing, and healthcare. Critics argue that lax enforcement and political concerns about appearing discriminatory allowed the schemes to continue for years.
