A “deeply disturbing” report by Baroness Louise Casey has exposed widespread institutional failings in how authorities handled grooming gang crimes across Britain. The review found that Asian and Pakistani-background men were vastly overrepresented among suspects involved in child sexual grooming gang activity.

The report also found victims—many girls aged just 10 to 15—were wrongly blamed, often dismissed as “wayward teenagers” instead of vulnerable children being raped and exploited.

“If we’d got this right years ago—seeing these girls as children raped rather than ‘wayward teenagers’ or collaborators in their abuse, collecting ethnicity data, and acknowledging as a system that we did not do a good enough job—then I doubt we’d be in this place now,” Baroness Casey wrote.

British Home Secretary Yvette Cooper—roughly equivalent to the Homeland Security Secretary in the U.S.—vowed swift action on 12 key recommendations, including a new time-limited national inquiry, treating grooming gang abuse as serious and organised crime, and tracking data on offenders’ ethnicity and nationality. The National Crime Agency (NCA) will reopen over 800 cold cases.

“This is one of the most horrific crimes,” Cooper told Members of Parliament (MPs), issuing an “unequivocal apology” to survivors. “Children as young as 10 plied with drugs and alcohol, brutally raped by gangs of men and disgracefully let down again and again by the authorities who were meant to protect them.”

Baroness Casey’s 200-page report criticised the historic refusal to collect ethnicity data and warned this silence had “only helped the bad people.” She also called for criminal records of victims coerced into illegal activity to be overturned and said stricter laws were needed to ensure men who have sex with under-16s face rape charges.

The inquiry comes after years of public outcry. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer backed the new probe after facing mounting pressure from the right, including criticism from Elon Musk and Reform Party leader Nigel Farage.

Children’s charity Barnardo’s warned against delaying reforms, urging the government to implement existing recommendations immediately. “Children and survivors have already been waiting many years for action,” said CEO Lynn Perry.

“California has just REJECTED our resolution agreement to follow federal law and keep men out of women’s sports,” Sec. McMahon wrote. “Turns out Gov. [Gavin] Newsom’s acknowledgment that ‘it’s an issue of fairness’ was empty political grandstanding.” The Trump administration’s Education Secretary added that Governor Newsom (D) would soon be hearing from the U.S. Attorney General, Pam Bondi, indicating that McMahon will soon refer the matter to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for legal action.

The response from California‘s Department of Education is blunt. Signed by the state agency’s general counsel, Len Garfinkle, the notice states: “The California Department of Education (CDE) received the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights’ (OCR’s) June 25, 2025 Letter of Finding and Proposed Resolution Agreement in the above-referenced OCR matter. The CDE respectfully disagrees with OCR’s analysis, and it will not sign the Proposed Resolution Agreement.”

A separate response from the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) states it “concurs with the response of the California Department of Education (CDE),” indicating that the organization is also refusing to sign the U.S Department of Education’s resolution agreement.

In late June, the U.S. Department of Education found that the State of California had violated Title IX with its policies allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports. As part of the determination against California, the Department of Education stipulated that the state restore any female athletic record taken by biological males. Additionally, state officials were directed to begin immediately complying with federal law.

In February, President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order barring men from participating in women’s sports.

The letter’s signatories include California Senate Minority Leader Brian Jones (R), Sen. Suzette Valladares (R), Sen. Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh (R), Assembly Member Heath Flora (R), Assembly Member Diane Dixon (R), and Assembly Member Laurie Davies (R). Sen. Jones had previously introduced legislation that directed California state prisons and county jails to provide release dates for illegal immigrants convicted of serious felonies and other violent crimes to federal immigration authorities. “America needs a system that reflects both compassion and lawfulness—one that upholds sovereignty while recognizing the reality on the ground,” the letter insists. The state lawmakers call on Trump and Congress to enact a pathway to legal status for so-called “non-criminal” illegal immigrants who supposedly have strong community ties. They also urge reforms to the H-2A and H-2B visa programs to authorize more legal guest workers across industries, alleging labor shortages in sectors such as construction, hospitality, and food processing—apparently preferring this to improving conditions to attract American workers.

According to the American Farm Bureau, the federal government previously authorized 384,900 H-2A temporary agriculture visas, while the H-2B visa program is capped at 66,000 annually. Notably, California’s latest jobs report found 1.1 million unemployed residents, with 659,000 job openings as of March 2025.

Propst has been terminated from her position at Blue Fish Pediatrics after posting inflammatory remarks on Facebook about victims of the flash floods in Kerr County, Texas. Her post, which was highlighted by ‘Libs of TikTok,’ stated, “Kerr County MAGA voted to gut FEMA. They deny climate change. May they get what they voted for. Bless their hearts.”

The flash floods have devastated Central Texas, particularly Kerr County, leaving a rising death toll and dozens of children among the victims. President Donald J. Trump has signed a major disaster declaration as search and rescue operations continue amidst ongoing rains.

Blue Fish Pediatrics initially suspended Propst before confirming her termination. The organization stated, “As we previously mentioned in our original statement, we strongly condemn the comments that were made in that post. That post does not reflect the values, standards, or mission of Blue Fish Pediatrics.” They added, “We do not support or condone any statement that politicizes tragedy, diminishes human dignity, or fails to clearly uphold compassion for every child and family, regardless of background or beliefs.”

Sherif Zaafran, President of the Texas Medical Board, also addressed the situation on social media, stating, “There is no place for politicization. The entire focus needs to be on looking for survivors. Any complaints we may receive will be thoroughly investigated.” Many commenters urged Zaafran to proceed with a full investigation into the matter.

Zaafran expressed his sorrow over the tragedy, saying, “My heart is filled with sadness with the news of everyone affected by the power of nature and the catastrophic floods. I pray for the safe return of all those who are still missing. I pray that they are found soon and back in the arms of their families.”

Following deadly hurricanes in 2024, some Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) personnel were found to be intentionally denying aid to Trump supporters.

The Trump administration has moved to end more than 25 years of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for immigrants from Nicaragua and Honduras. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the change in the Federal Register, saying the protections officially lapsed as of July 5. A 60-day transition period is now in effect before termination becomes final.

Originally granted following natural disasters in the late 1990s, TPS for these countries has been repeatedly extended by multiple administrations. The status provides work authorization and protection from deportation, but does not offer a path to permanent residency. Around 50,000 migrants are estimated to be impacted.

During the first Trump administration, DHS tried to cancel these designations but was bogged down by lawfare suits. The Joe Biden government extended the status again after rescinding those terminations. Now, the Trump administration has reasserted its position, citing the program’s “temporary” nature and arguing that original conditions no longer justify continued protection.

“Temporary Protected Status, as the name itself makes clear, is an inherently temporary status,” the DHS explained.

The move follows the termination of TPS for around half a million Haitians in June—although, as with that decision, following through on deporting formerly TPS-designated Hondurans and Nicaraguans will likely face a protracted lawfare campaign.

Tesla CEO and former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) frontman Elon Musk has tapped his struggling electric vehicle company’s chief financial officer (CFO), Vaibhav Taneja, to serve as the treasurer of the America Party. The move has revived criticism of Musk’s zealous support for replacing American workers with cheap foreign labor through H1B visas.

The move is also seeing renewed allegations of Musk and his associates being “broligarchs”—a term popularized by former Trump White House Chief Strategist and WarRoom host Stephen K. Bannon—as PACs and political parties typically employ experienced campaign finance experts as treasurers and avoid hiring personal company employees so as to avoid potential conflicts of interest.

The new America Party’s treasurer, Vaibhav Taneja, has served as Tesla’s CFO since 2023. Notably, Taneja was born and educated in India, receiving a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Delhi University in 1999 and a qualified chartered accountancy from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in 2000. From 1999 until 2016, Taneja appears to have worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in India, moving on to Solar City in 2016. A year later, Taneja became part of Tesla’s India operations after Solar City was acquired by Musk’s company, and in 2023, he ascended to the role of Tesla’s CFO.

On social media, the revelation that an Indian is serving as a leader in the America Party has drawn significant backlash. Musk, himself a South African immigrant, drew similar criticism in December 2024 over his aggressive support for the importation of cheap foreign labor. In a series of posts, Musk disparaged American workers, called for an unprecedented expansion in foreign work visas, and threatened that he would be unrelenting in his push to expand the number of foreign workers in America.

While Musk was eventually forced to walk back his comments—especially after it was pointed out that his own visa status was questionable before he attained U.S. citizenship—the billionaire tech mogul has continued to quietly advocate for increased foreign workers.

Meanwhile, Taneja’s role as CFO is also raising renewed allegations of “broligarchy.” The term refers to a tight-knit cadre of Silicon Valley technology billionaires who have attempted to gain political influence to consolidate their market dominance and access to foreign imports and cheap foreign labor.

Taneja, as the CFO of Tesla, has one of the highest compensations of any chief executive in the country. Notably, after incentives, Taneja’s salary of $139 million in 2024 far exceeded the salaries of Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Google CEO Sundar Pichai. Having someone with such close financial and personal ties to Musk serve as the treasurer of Musk’s America Party could raise ethics concerns.

Whether Taneja is well enough versed in U.S. campaign finance law to perform his role, or capable of standing up to Musk, is unclear. Regardless, the fact that Musk installed Taneja as the America Party’s treasurer—given the plethora of potential ethical conflicts—will raise alarm bells.
