A federal judge agreed, writing that “the targeted exception for clergy raises concerns,” and noted that the law placed priests in an unconstitutional dilemma: violate their religious duty or face criminal penalties.

The dispute in Washington follows similar efforts in other states. In 2019, California introduced a bill that would have required priests to report abuse admitted in confession under certain conditions. That bill was later withdrawn after widespread public backlash and constitutional concerns.

The Catholic Church teaches that the seal of confession is absolute, and priests who violate it face the highest canonical penalty: automatic excommunication. Even indirect breaches can lead to removal from the priesthood. Many clergy have stated they would rather face imprisonment than violate the confessional seal.

President Donald J. Trump has followed through with his trade duty threat against China made earlier on Friday, announcing a 100 percent tariff on Chinese goods from November 1.

“It has just been learned that China has taken an extraordinarily aggressive position on Trade in sending an extremely hostile letter to the World, stating that they were going to, effective November 1st, 2025, impose large scale Export Controls on virtually every product they make, and some not even made by them,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “This affects ALL Countries, without exception, and was obviously a plan devised by them years ago. It is absolutely unheard of in International Trade, and a moral disgrace in dealing with other Nations.”

He continued, “Based on the fact that China has taken this unprecedented position, and speaking only for the U.S.A., and not other Nations who were similarly threatened, starting November 1st, 2025 (or sooner, depending on any further actions or changes taken by China), the United States of America will impose a Tariff of 100% on China, over and above any Tariff that they are currently paying. Also on November 1st, we will impose Export Controls on any and all critical software.”

Trump concluded, “It is impossible to believe that China would have taken such an action, but they have, and the rest is History. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

President Donald J. Trump‘s former National Security Advisor turned obsessive critic John Bolton is reportedly facing charges from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). Several sources claim the charges against him could be filed “as early as next week.”

 It is believed the investigation into Bolton revolves around his alleged unlawful retention of classified materials used to write a book. However, there are some indications that the scope could be broader, including accusations that Bolton traded on the same documents with foreign actors.

A grand jury in Maryland has been examining evidence for several weeks that Bolton improperly retained classified national security documents at his home in Bethesda, Maryland. On September 22, FBI agents conducted a raid on Bolton’s residence, reportedly searching for classified materials, based on a search warrant approved by a federal judge and supported by CIA-provided information.

Bolton’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, has denied any wrongdoing on his client’s part, asserting that “An objective and thorough review will show nothing inappropriate was stored or kept by Ambassador Bolton.” Lowell has also said that the documents in question date back to Bolton’s tenure in the George W. Bush administration.

Former British Prime Minister Sir Tony Blair met pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein in Downing Street, the Prime Minister’s official residence, in May 2002, according to documents released by the United Kingdom’s National Archives. The meeting was arranged following lobbying by Lord Peter Mandelson, who described Epstein as “a friend of mine” and a close associate of former U.S. President Bill Clinton.

Emails show that Mandelson, the recently fired British ambassador to the U.S., urged Blair’s chief of staff, Jonathan Powell, to arrange the meeting, describing Epstein as “safe” and someone who had his “finger on the pulse” of global markets. A memo from British civil servant Matthew Rycroft briefed Blair about Epstein, describing him as a “financial adviser to the super-rich” and a friend of Clinton and Mandelson.

Blair’s spokesman states that the meeting lasted less than 30 minutes and focused on U.S. and UK politics, “As far as he can remember, Mr. Blair met with him for less than 30 minutes in Downing Street in 2002, and discussed U.S. and UK politics. He never met or engaged with him subsequently.”

“This was, of course, long before his crimes were known of and his subsequent conviction,” the spokesman insisted. Epstein pleaded guilty on June 30, 2008, to two state charges for soliciting prostitution from a minor and died in 2019 while awaiting trial on further child sex trafficking charges.

The documents reveal that Mandelson told Powell that Clinton wanted to introduce Epstein to Blair, describing him as “young and vibrant” and “an active scientific catalyst/entrepreneur.” Mandelson’s email also noted that Epstein was traveling with Clinton and could adjust his schedule to meet Blair.

The release of these documents, previously withheld over supposed concerns about their impact on UK-U.S. relations, raises further questions about the extent of Epstein’s connections within political circles. Clinton has acknowledged knowing Epstein but denies any knowledge of his criminal activities.
