A presumed far-left agitator assaulted the new Reform Party leader, Nigel Farage, during his first day back campaigning on the front lines of British politics. Farage was in the town of Clacton, where he intended to file paperwork to stand for Member of Parliament, his eighth attempt at the position.
Farage was targeted as he left the Moon and Starfish pub, where he had been speaking to reporters about his electoral platform.
“We need radical surgery in this country; we need braver politicians to stand up for us and represent us, and if you help me, as you promised you would, we will, on July the 4th, win this seat,” Farage told supporters at a successful rally prior to the pub visit, urging them to “send me to Parliament to be a bloody nuisance” to the political establishment.
Following the incident outside the pub, he posted a short video of himself in good spirits, toasting viewers with the message, “My milkshake brings all the people to the rally.”
Local police have confirmed a woman was arrested following the incident.
