The campaign against President-Elect Donald J. Trump’s Attorney General pick, Congressman Matt Gaetz, begins in earnest today. Local Florida lawyer named Joel Leppard is set to make egregious claims about Gaetz in unchallenged media interviews.
Leppard, an Orlando-based specialist in personal injury claims and getting people off driving under the influence (DUI) charges, is understood to be touring Manhattan studios on Monday peddling the same debunked claims made about Gaetz three years ago.
The topic has since been used—at the instruction of ousted Speaker Kevin McCarthy—as a lawfare tool to bludgeon Gaetz as retribution for McCarthy’s ejection from the role, a campaign Gaetz led.
Leppard, The National Pulse can reveal, is a Democrat donor who has given at least 13 times since 2020. His donations all appear to be funneled through the far-left funding platform ActBlue, which has recently come under heightened scrutiny for the veracity of its donations.
Leppard’s historic clients include far-left ‘Occupy’ activists such as Nikki Wright, who was charged with trespassing in 2012. His firm’s current Instagram page is mostly AI-generated memes about helping criminals escape justice.
Leppard is expected to claim that Gaetz attended “sex parties” and will almost certainly claim the Florida congressman had sex with a 17-year-old girl around six years ago.
The Biden Department of Justice, however, has repeatedly refused to charge Gaetz despite what local lawyers like Leppard contend. The FBI has long investigated the case, with the DOJ finding no merit in the claims.
“Ultimately, I hope it puts a lot of pressure on the panel to release the [Congressional] report,” Leppard said. “My clients have already been through this several times and they really, really do not want to testify again, especially not on the floor of the Senate.”
A spokesman for Gaetz told POLITICO: “Merrick Garland’s DOJ cleared Matt Gaetz and didn’t charge him. Are you alleging Garland is part of a cover-up?”
