A Moroccan asylum seeker who held knives to the throats of two sex workers in their own homes has been jailed for nine years, with the judge saying he was “highly dubious” that the man is as young as he claims.
Aymane Es Sabery, who says he is about 19, was sentenced Thursday at Bristol Crown Court in England, according to the Bristol Post. He refused to attend the hearing.
Es Sabery was sentenced for an assault with intent to rob on November 12, 2025, and a robbery on February 21, 2026. Both attacks took place in the victims’ homes.
Judge Julian Lambert said he was “highly dubious” that Es Sabery is as young as he says. The court did not make a formal ruling on his age. He will serve his sentence in a young offender institution, Britain’s prisons for offenders aged 18 to 20.
Es Sabery arrived in Britain in 2023 and claimed asylum. The court heard he will “almost certainly” be deported once he has served his sentence, but the British government often fails to execute deportation orders, even against serious criminals.
